Camille Vasquez takes a personal shot at Amber Heard during her closing argument on Friday. She said that 'no one showed up for Ms. Heard in this courtroom other than her sister' and that she 'burns bridges'.
Camille Vasquez Takes A Dig At Amber Heard Saying 'No One Showed Up' For Her Except Her Sister
The trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has come to a close as the jury deliberates, however, in her closing arguments, Depp’s attorney Camille Vasquez took several shots at Heard including that she doesn’t have any friends and no one showed up for her.
In the trial, the only person close to Heard to testify was her own sister, whereas Johnny even had ex-girlfriends testify on his behalf that he never was abusive. This was a huge blow to Heard and her team, but Vasquez has been on her the entire trial and this was just the sugar on top.
During rebuttal closing arguments, Camille Vasquez said that 'no one showed up to support Amber Heard, except for her sister Whitney Henriquez.'
Addressing the jury in the Fairfax, Virginia, courtroom, Vasquez said: "You may have noticed that no one showed up for Ms. Heard in this courtroom other than her sister.
"Every other witness who traveled to Virginia for her was a paid expert."
The attorney continued: "This is a woman who burns bridges. Her close friends don't show up for her.
"Mr. [Ben] Rottenborn tried to discredit Mr. Depp's witnesses by suggesting that they're all on Mr. Depp's payroll. So he doubled down on the hoax theory. That everyone is just lying."
Referring to a recording shown to the court of Depp "howling like an animal" during a 2014 private flight from Boston to Los Angeles, Vasquez vehemently defended her client, saying:
"What did Miss. Heard capture of this supposed rampage? Mr. Depp moaning in distress? That’s what she chose to record. What sort of person records something like that?
"What sort of person takes pictures of their husband or boyfriend or fiancé who’s struggling with sobriety, nodding off with ice cream dripping off his leg, his hand in his pocket, or asleep on the ground?”
Heard's sister, Whitney Henriquez, testified in court earlier this month, during which she told the jury that she was asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement after Depp allegedly hit her in the back and repeatedly "whacked" Heard in the face, per Insider.
Vasquez then listed all of Depp's witnesses, telling the jury that none of them are on the actor's payroll. "Kate Moss is definitely not on Mr. Depp’s payroll," Vasquez said. "Miss Heard wants you to believe that all these people are lying."
"Why are you here? You’re here because of a lie," Vasquez then told the jury. "And that was a lie that Ms. Heard repeated in the [Washington Post] op-ed."
Following her closing rebuttal argument, Depp could be seen giving Vasquez a hug.
Johnny Depp is suing ex-wife Heard for $50 million after she referred to herself as a "public figure representing domestic abuse" in an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in 2018.
Heard's article was titled: "I spoke up against sexual violence—and faced our culture's wrath. That has to change."
Although Heard, 36, never mentioned Depp by name in the op-ed, his lawyers claim the piece was obviously about him and subsequently resulted in him losing work. Depp has repeatedly denied the allegations that he was physically violent toward his ex-wife.
Amber Heard is countersuing for $100 million - claiming she was only ever violent against Depp in self-defense or in defense of her younger sister, per NBC News, and for comments made by Adam Waldman, Depp's former lawyer.
The jury for the trial is now deliberating on the verdict in the high-profile case.
