When Andrea Fito brought home puppy Coco, playful interactions with cat Horus were common. However, during Coco's illness, Horus transformed into a caring companion, showing a bond beyond their initial playfulness.
Cat Bully Has Sudden Change Of Heart After His Dog Sibling Falls Sick
Horus, the family's cat, was very surprised a few months ago when Andrea Fito and her family got a puppy by the name of Coco.
Horus, who had lived all of his life as the sole pet in the house, was now interacting with a loud, bouncy dog.
He didn't think twice about displaying his feline supremacy.
“From day one, Horus would look for Coco to play tricks on her,” Fito told The Dodo.
Horus developed certain bully traits.
As Coco grew, she became more capable of fending off the cat's unjustified hostility.
They quickly got into a chilly war of sorts, fighting out their minor differences in noisy fights.
“They are always looking for each other to have a play-fight,” Fito said.
Coco eventually became unwell, which was unthinkable at the time.
Coco had distress-related symptoms one day. Food or water was difficult for her to swallow. Fito hurried her to the hospital.
Parvo, a virus that can be fatal to dogs and for which Coco had not yet received vaccination, was discovered to be the source of Coco's illness. “She was more alive than dead,” Fito said.
Fortunately, the illness was discovered quickly enough to be effectively treated.
Horus the bully, though an odd source of comfort, helped Coco on the road to recovery at home.
“He really surprised me. This wasn’t his typical behavior at all,” Fito said. “He went from always fighting to understanding that Coco was very sick.”
In order to share a meaningful moment, the cat and dog had set aside their apparent differences. Fito realized at that point that, despite their frequent conflicts, they shared a love relationship.
“Horus was sad that Coco was sick,” Fito said.
Horus, it turned out, wasn't all that much of a bully.
Coco was able to fully recover because of the love and support she received from Horus and her family. Then she and Horus resumed their conversation where they had left off.
Fito said, noting that despite the return to their regular schedule, she now views her pets' relationship a little differently. "Coco is healthy, fat, happy, and fighting again with Horus," Fito added.
“I haven’t seen that same affection between them since then, but I know if something were to happen again, Horus would go right back to it.”
