Catherine Zeta-Jones has given a surprisingly candid admission about what married life is really like with her husband, Michael Douglas.

The two first met back in 1998 at the Deauville Film Festival, and it didn’t take long for sparks to fly between them. Their instant chemistry quickly grew into something more serious.

By 1999, Douglas had proposed, and just a year later, in November 2000, they officially tied the knot in a lavish ceremony that captured the attention of fans around the world.

Over the years, the couple welcomed two children together—son Dylan, now 25, and daughter Carys, who is 22. Adding to the uniqueness of their bond, they also share the same birthday on September 25.

Although their relationship hit a rough patch in August 2013, leading to a temporary separation, the pair reunited the following year. Since then, they’ve managed to rebuild their marriage, and from the outside, things appear stronger than ever.

In a recent chat with Hello! magazine, Zeta-Jones opened up about her personality at home, admitting that her strong competitive streak can sometimes stir things up in their family dynamic.

When asked directly whether she considered their household competitive, the Mask of Zorro actress admitted: "Yes I do. We all unfortunately… We all [do]. But it's a healthy one."

The couple has openly reflected on their relationship many times over the years, often discussing how they weathered their 2013 split and found their way back to each other.

Douglas himself once addressed this during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2015, saying: "It can't be a one-way street, But I'm crazy about her. And yeah, I think every couple has their difficult times. The only problem is, as you well know, we're all in the public eye, and it tends to get a little more exposed than most. We're back stronger than ever."

Just last week, Zeta-Jones and Douglas celebrated another birthday together, with Douglas marking the occasion by posting a sweet photo of them on Instagram.

In the caption, the Wall Street star wrote: "To my birthday sister—what a joy celebrating another year with you! Congratulations on your spectacular game at the Celebrity Ryder Cup. Happy Birthday to the love of my life @catherinezetajones."

While plenty of fans rushed to leave heartfelt birthday wishes, others couldn’t help but notice the phrase 'birthday sister' and admitted they found it unusual or even a bit odd.

One fan reacted by writing: "Did you just call your wife sister or am I tripping?"

Another person echoed the sentiment, commenting: "That's his wife, not his sister, what does he mean birthday sister."

Even though some people questioned the wording, Zeta-Jones responded to her husband in the comments with gratitude, keeping her reply simple and sweet, without revealing any quirky nicknames of her own for him.

Her message read: "Happy birthday darling. I can't think of anyone else to share a birthday with."

Later, Zeta-Jones shared her own birthday tribute to Douglas, which was more straightforward.

In her post, she wrote: "Happy birthday Michael! Sharing this special day with you is once in a lifetime!"
