The dream of a happy life together was shattered when her husband took off with another woman shortly after the wedding. Her new husband was gone, and she was left with a broken heart and the burden of filing for, and financing, a divorce. So she decided to sell the dress on eBay and the story she posted along with the item has gone viral, along with all of the drama.
Cheated Bride Puts Wedding Dress On eBay To Pay For Her Divorce
#1 She Let The World In On Her Drama
If you like a good martial soap opera, all you have to do is head over to eBay or YouTube. A woman in the UK posted an auction on eBay that she's selling her used Art Deco wedding dress to pay for a divorce after her husband left her for another woman. To put is simply, she was over the heartbreak and was now in the totally pissed off phase.
#2 She Had A Beautiful Wedding
When 28-year-old Samantha Wragg celebrated her wedding, she surely shared the dreams of most brides: a life with her new husband at her side, a house, a pet, and perhaps one day, a family. Her wedding was costly and like a fairytale, one that she had always dreamed of. But Samantha learned after just a few months that her husband Ross was cheating on her with another woman.
#3 Divorce Papers Filed
The couple split up immediately, and Samantha was devastated. Ross, however, moved in with his new galpal. Samantha filed for a divorce and Ross agreed to it until he received the court papers. When he learned that he was to pay for the divorce on his own, he refused to sign the papers and left Samantha hanging with a huge wedding debt and a dress that only brought her sad memories.
#4 She Cried For Awhile Then Got Angry
She was hurt for a time and became depressed, even taking to her personal blog to post updates on her current status. It would have been easy for her to collapse under the strain of the terrible situation, but instead, she stood up and showed the world who's boss. Her first step after realizing that life must go on. She decided to sell that unwanted wedding dress. Wragg took to eBay, the popular resale site, hoping to recoup some of the cost of her beautiful gown. She listed it as an 'Art Deco' gown. The starting price was $500. Her parents paid 2,000 pounds, or about $2,600, for the dress at the time of the wedding.
#5 Her Auction Description Caught The Attention Of Many
While the 75% discount makes this gown a great deal for a bride-to-be, what's really remarkable is the colorful commentary she adds underneath the listing. Her vivid description of the gown only touches briefly on the aesthetic of the garment itself, and focuses primarily on her emotional associations with the gown and the problems her estranged husband had caused her.
Her description of the dress starts with the brief tagline, "Great condition, but needs dry cleaning before wearing to get rid of the stench of betrayal."
#6 She Can Provide Info On The Gown AND The Skank
If you think that's a good selling point, she was just getting started. She continues to explain that she needs to sell the dress to pay for the divorce her ex had left her to flip the bill for. She even lets all of eBay hear her explanation of why there are only two pictures of the dress, and how she can tell anyone interested about the 'skank' her ex is now engaged to.
#7 Ross Replied To The Auction After It Went Viral
But Ross wasn't taking her eBay post laying down. The bartender, who is now living in Spain after the woman he left Samantha for left him, made a YouTube response to let the world know what really went down. He admits he was a douche for falling in love with another woman, but says that in no way is he responsible for the cost of the divorce. At least not the whole cost. He is willing to pay for half, which had viewers following the serial pretty angry.
#8 This Is What Ross Had To Say To Samantha
Fifty-four bidders weren't put off by this wedding dress after reading the interesting story behind it. The winning bid even reached an astounding, $87,000.00. That's more than enough for Samantha to pay for the entire divorce, but she took note that Ross is sporting a new tattoo in his video reply that says "Karma" and is now demanding he still pay for the entire thing.
