Cher Was Left 'Speechless' After Learning She Had A Secret 15-Year-Old Granddaughter

Cher reportedly found out she had a teenage granddaughter after her son, Elijah Allman, admitted that he had fathered a child back in 2010 and had never told her about it.

The girl is named Ever and is the daughter of Elijah Allman and Kayti Edwards, a woman he had a brief relationship with after the two had already known each other for years.

Edwards said that after a one-night stand, Ever was born in 2010. For years, the truth stayed hidden, and it was only last year that Cher learned she had a granddaughter after reaching out and asking directly.

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, Kayti said Cher was left stunned when she finally heard the truth and realized her family was bigger than she had known.

Kayti said: "Cher got in touch with me last June and asked if it was true, so I had to confess."

She added: "She said she had heard something about it from Elijah back in 2021, but didn't know if it was just crazy talk. When she heard the news, she was speechless."

After hearing the news, Cher reportedly told her family, “oh my God, I’m finally a grandma,” a reaction that showed just how unexpected the revelation was for her. Kayti also said that Elijah had known from the very beginning, even though he never really wanted to take on the role of a parent.

As Kayti explained: "He would pop in every couple of years but would just say hello,"

She also said: "It wasn't until 2021, when he overdosed on drugs, that he blurted out to his then-wife that he had a child. This is what started the rumours in the family."

Later, Elijah reportedly reached out in an effort to repair some of the damage and reconnect. Kayti said: "He then sent me a text message to say he wanted to make amends."

Even so, she made clear that the man she sees as Ever’s real father is her husband, because he was the one who helped raise her daughter every day. She said she could not have asked for a better father for her children.

In September last year, Kayti and Ever were invited to stay with Cher and meet her properly in person. Kayti said Cher was lovely and kind during the visit, which helped make the first meeting a positive one.

Since then, Cher has had the chance to spend time with her granddaughter, and the two have remained in contact as the family relationship continues to grow.

The development is especially meaningful because Cher had previously spoken about wanting grandchildren. Back in 2018, while promoting the second Mamma Mia movie, she said she wished she had grandkids.

Kayti said the whole experience had been nothing but positive and added that Cher has become very protective of Ever now that she knows she has a granddaughter.

Ever herself only recently learned that Elijah was her biological father, and that happened after he was arrested. Before that, she had believed he was simply a family friend.

The revelation changed how she understood her own family history, closing a chapter that had been kept quiet for years and opening a new one that now includes Cher in a much more direct way.
