Chris Hemsworth also opened up about why he doesn’t think he’ll ever be best friends with Billie Eilish
Chris Hemsworth Says He Regrets Taking Selfie With Billie Eilish For A Reason You Might Not Expect
Chris Hemsworth recently shared that he has second thoughts about a selfie he once took with Billie Eilish and the reason why might catch you off guard.
At 41 years old, the Australian actor has become known for his roles in major blockbusters, especially as the muscular and heroic Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But even someone with his level of fame has moments they look back on with a bit of embarrassment.
And as it turns out, Hemsworth is no exception when it comes to doing something a little awkward in the presence of another celebrity.
During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday (March 26), Hemsworth sat down for a round of quick-fire questions and ended up revealing an unexpectedly cringe moment involving none other than Billie Eilish, who’s 23 years old.
According to Hemsworth, the slightly embarrassing situation unfolded at the 2024 Oscars. It wasn’t anything like a wardrobe slip or an awkward pose that made him cringe - it was something else entirely.
When Colbert asked whether he had ever asked someone for their autograph, Hemsworth gave a casual reply at first, mentioning that he’d asked a footballer for one a long time ago. But then he opened up about his slightly uncomfortable encounter with Billie.
Hemsworth explained: "Actually, I got a photograph with Billie Eilish at the Oscars. And I remember thinking, 'Ah don't do it, don't do it,' but then I was like, 'No, my kids are gonna love this.'"
The actor, who shares a 12-year-old daughter named India and 11-year-old twin sons, Sasha and Tristan, with his wife Elsa Pataky, said his kids are massive fans of the Grammy-winning artist from California.
Still, right after snapping the photo, he instantly felt a wave of regret come over him.
Hemsworth went on to say: "And then the moment I took it, I was like, ah, I went from work colleague to now like, a fan."
He admitted that taking the selfie may have hurt his chances of forming any kind of real friendship with Billie, as he added: "We will never be friends, never be best friends."
When Colbert asked if the two had actually worked together before, Hemsworth laughed and replied: "No, you know, same industry kind of colleague. Bumping shoulders."
This also wasn’t the first time Hemsworth snapped pics with fellow celebrities. In fact, he even went so far as to break a major rule at the Met Gala last year in pursuit of selfies with other stars.
While chatting with E! News at the Met Gala in May, Hemsworth said: "Selfies everywhere. A lot of selfies in my phone. Like, 'When did I take that? Let's delete that one.'"
The actor, who lives in Australia with his family, said the excitement of being at the event took over. That led him to bend the rules a little and take a few keepsake photos.
"So any sort of big awards show, we haven't become jaded because it's still new and exciting," he said. "And this in particular, eclectic group of people, different than the normal crowd of, you know, film award shows we've been doing... sports people, musicians, artists, so we had a really fun night."
