There had been viral claims going around that Amber Heard stole famous lines from The Talented Mr. Ripley in court. However, these claims have been debunked as it has been proven otherwise.

Johnny Depp is suing ex-wife Amber Heard for $50 million in a defamation lawsuit over an op-ed that the Aqauamn actress wrote in 2018 in which she claimed to be a victim of domestic violence.

Even though Heard did not directly mention Depp's name, it was obvious that the op-ed was directed towards the actor. According to Depp, he suffered an irreparable impact on his career and his personal life following the article.

The defamation trial case has been going on for the past one month and Depp's legal team rested their case on Tuesday (3 May) after 13 days of testimony against Heard, and the Aquaman star has since taken the stand.

The trial has garnered attention globally, not only because it is an A-List trial, but also because the revelations made from both sides have been truly shocking and equally disturbing.

However, it is also important that before we reach our own conclusions, we should always verify the information from online sources.

The dialogue from the film is as follows: "The thing with Dickie… it's like the sun shines on you, and it's glorious. And then he forgets you and it’s very, very cold.

"When you have his attention, you feel like you're the only person in the world, that's why everybody loves him so much."

This part of the testimony gained huge traction from social media users, despite the fact it was simply shared with the two apparent quotes side by side, without any evidence – even though the whole trial has been publicly available and extensively documented.

It is also important to note that Heard did not make this an opening statement, so even the information outside of the quotes isn't accurate.

The most likely explanation is that Heard shared some sentiments which echoed the film, and this was then hugely exaggerated to create a false narrative that is unfair on the actress's behalf.

While taking the stand, the 36-year-old did say that being with Depp felt like 'a dream' and he made her feel like 'the most beautiful person in the world', but then 'he would disappear'.

So, remember people there is no harm in checking information before blindly believing things on social media!
