According to the singer's sister Céline Dion "no longer has control of her muscles," indicating that the Canadian singer is still battling Stiff Person Syndrome.

According to the Daily Mail, Claudette Dion stated in an interview with the French-language Canadian publication 7 Jours that although her 55-year-old younger sister still desired to perform, the progressive condition was still taking its toll.

“She’s working hard, but she doesn’t have control over her muscles,” Claudette said.

“What breaks my heart is that she’s always been disciplined. She’s always worked hard. Our mother always told her, ‘You’re going to do it well, you’re going to do it properly.’ It’s true that in both our dreams and hers, the goal is to return to the stage. In what capacity? I don’t know.”

She went into further detail about the illness's effects on her sister's life and the number of unanswered questions surrounding it.

“The vocal cords are muscles, and the heart is also a muscle,” she said.

“This is what comes to get me. Because it’s one out of a million cases, the scientists haven’t done that much research because it didn’t affect that many people.”

The Grammy Award winner revealed in a heartfelt statement dated January 2022 that she would be delaying her scheduled tour dates due to health issues.

She also disclosed for the first time to the world that she had terrible muscle spasms brought on by a rare neurological condition.

The crippling spasms can be so powerful and severe that they have the potential to shatter bones.

Dion expressed her frustration with the sickness when she decided to postpone the dates of her world tour in 2022.
