Dean Ambrose is a dangerous man.
The Cincinnati scrapper began his path to WWE with a fearless career on the independent scene, notable for his ability both to absorb and to distribute punishment in equal measure. Through his years toiling away in obscurity, Ambrose competed in some of the most vicious environments imaginable, sacrificing his body and blood in the pursuit of inflicting as much damage on his opponent as humanly possible. Victory was incidental. What mattered to Ambrose was always the message.
Dean Ambrose Is the WWE's Unlikely Anti-Hero
He began wrestling in the independent promotions, spending more than half a decade at the Heartland Wrestling Association, another four years at Insanity Pro Wrestling, and others, before making his way to WWE's developmental territory.
The Shield (2012–2014)
Ambrose made his main roster debut on November 18, 2012 at the Survivor Series pay-per-view alongside Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, where they assaulted Ryback during the triple-threat main event for the WWE Championship, leading to CM Punk pinning John Cena to retain his title.
The trio declared themselves "The Shield" and vowed to rally against "injustice". They denied working for Punk, but routinely emerged from the crowd to attack Punk's adversaries, including Ryback, The Miz, Kane and Daniel Bryan, who had attempted to save Kane. This led to a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match being set up for the TLC pay-per-view pitting the three men of the Shield against Ryback and Team Hell No (Kane and Bryan), which Ambrose, Reigns and Rollins won in their debut match.
in May 2014
WWE creative executed the fateful decision to split up their "hounds of justice," designating Ambrose for a surprising babyface turn in a feud against ex-indie rival Rollins.
"It's still a bit strange," he admits. "I never pictured myself being liked by anybody. I've always fed off negativity and wanting people to hate me. That attitude really fueled me for my entire career. So being a guy that people like and want to cheer for is the weird part."
Dean Ambrose is becoming a big star for WWE.
While his moment in the sun has been great, one would imagine that his star is only going to grow brighter in the coming years. While fans want to see Ambrose win the big one right now, it is better to give it to him in a big moment. Whether or not he gets to have such a thing is not yet known. The character change and new direction for Ambrose has been a big help to him as well as the company. It seems to be one WWE will keep around for a while.
