In a recent sit-down interview, Dolly Parton opened up about the emotional difficulties she's been facing since the passing of her beloved husband.

Parton, who had been married to Carl Dean for almost six decades, spoke honestly about her grief while chatting with Khloé Kardashian.

Her husband, Carl Dean, passed away at the age of 82 on March 3. The couple had even renewed their vows just nine years prior to his death, marking a powerful commitment to their long-lasting bond.

Shortly after Carl's passing, Parton released a heartfelt statement that said: "Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can't do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy."

"While their family have also asked for 'privacy during this difficult time."

More recently, while appearing on Kardashian’s podcast Khloé in Wonder Land, Parton spoke more candidly about her ongoing grief. She admitted that she's still finding her way through it, especially when it comes to writing and recording new music.

During the episode, Kardashian asked her if she'd ever had moments where she couldn’t finish a song or felt stuck creatively.

Parton replied: "There are several things I have wanted to start, but I can't do it."

"I'm just coming up with such wonderful beautiful ideas, but I think I won't finish it. I can't do it right now, because I've got so many other things.

"I can't afford the luxury of, you know, getting that emotional right now. There are times like that, things like that, that will stall you a little bit. But I'll write something else though, if it comes."

She also mentioned that, for now, she's decided to pause everything related to songwriting and music creation. She’s simply not in the right space for it.

But even in the middle of this tough period, Parton shared that she’s leaning on her faith. Her spiritual beliefs are giving her strength and helping her stay hopeful.

In a conversation with the Associated Press, she opened up by saying: "I am a person of faith, and I truly believe that I'm going to see him again someday."

"And I see him every day in my memories and in my heart, and in all the things that we used to do and all the things that we've built together. You just kind of have to learn to kind of make new plans – but that's the hardest part."

She also talked about how she’s trying to turn her pain into purpose by channeling that energy into something meaningful.

She explained further: "I really feel his presence. I just try to go on, because I know I have to. And he was ill for quite a while, and part of me was at peace that he was at peace and not suffering anymore. But that still doesn't make up for the loss and the loneliness of it."

"I'm going to take all of that energy, and I'm just going to put that back into other things, and I'll keep him ever-present in everything that I do."
