The man behind the viral 'Double Rainbow' video, Paul ‘Bear’ Vasquez, sadly passed away in 2020.

But his legacy lives on in a remarkable way. He left behind a treasure trove of content that will continue to be released on his YouTube channel until 2035.

For those who may not be familiar, Paul Vasquez became an internet sensation back in 2010 when he posted his now-famous video on YouTube.

The clip captured his pure joy and wonder at seeing a double rainbow stretching across the sky.

During the three-minute-long video, Bear can be heard exclaiming, "Oh my God, it’s a double rainbow," over and over, his excitement growing as the colors became clearer.

The Double Rainbow That Started It All

That video, filmed in the front yard of his home just outside Yosemite National Park in California, quickly went viral.

As of now, it has amassed over 51 million views. It wasn't just the sight of the rainbow that captivated people—it was Bear’s infectious joy and unfiltered reaction that won over the internet.

This sudden fame led to a loyal fanbase for Bear, allowing him to share glimpses of his life in Yosemite, where he operated a farm with the help of passing volunteers.

Bear is best known for his rainbow video YouTube/@Hungrybear95620

Originally from East Los Angeles, he had worked for the California Conservation Corps and as a Los Angeles County firefighter before moving to Yosemite in 1985.

He bought an eight-acre plot of land there, seeking a quieter life after his divorce.

A YouTube Channel That Lives On

Bear was a prolific creator, regularly uploading videos about his daily life. But what’s truly remarkable is that fans are now discovering he scheduled thousands of videos to be released long after his death.

A Reddit user recently pointed out, “Bear was a prolific uploader and created thousands of videos. He also scheduled 15 years of uploads in advance before he died, leaving his channel still active now 4 years after his death.”

This revelation left many fans in awe. One commenter noted, “I was originally thinking to keep income flowing to the family for long after he's gone.”

Another said, “The other way to look at it is, way to make the most of the time he had.”

Another thoughtful comment added, “Man, if he’s right about reincarnation he could literally grow up and watch his own videos from a past life as they come out.”

Fans were both amazed and touched by his foresight, realizing that Bear's videos were more than just content; they were a way of sharing his spirit and keeping his presence alive even after his passing.

A Proud and Spiritual Journey

Bear's unique approach to life even extended to his family. One person on Reddit shared a memory, saying, “I met his daughter one time at a party in Tahoe; she was cool, slightly embarrassed by but also proud of her dad’s legend status.”

This kind of reaction shows just how much Bear’s spirit and joyful energy touched those around him.

In a 2019 video, Bear mentioned his plan to upload fifteen years’ worth of content, proving he was serious about leaving a lasting impact.

His channel continues to release videos, keeping his story alive for years to come. When Bear reflected on his viral moment, he described it as a deeply spiritual experience.

In a 2014 interview, he said, "The video is me understanding that I'm in the presence of God."

Although not religious, Bear explained that he saw the video as a turning point in his life. Before its release, he was living like a starving artist, but the video allowed him to live more comfortably.

Sadly, Bear’s journey came to an end on May 3, 2020, when he wrote on Facebook about feeling feverish and having trouble breathing.

Even then, his attitude was one of acceptance. Rather than rushing to the hospital, he chose to see what would happen, looking forward to the idea of reincarnation and "enjoying the ride."

Six days later, on May 9, 2020, Bear passed away in the emergency room of John C. Fremont Hospital in Mariposa, California.

He was 57 years old, but his positive outlook and remarkable presence continue to live on through the videos he left behind.
