According to Dong Tao chicken farmer Giang Le Han, most of these types of chickens are of poor quality, due to breed mixing and dope seeding.

The chickens do look rather strange, but they cost a lot to sell. The cost per kilo for the Dong Tao chicken is about US$ 17 - 19 depending on the type, while very strong breeds go for US$ 238 - 286.
