Drake, 36, Addresses Comments About His Relationship With Millie Bobby Brown, 19
Drake, the 36-year-old rapper whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham, is a global music sensation.
With five Grammy awards under his belt, he's known for hits like 'One Dance,' 'Hotline Bling,' and 'Toosie Slide.'
Drake mingles with stars like Adele, LeBron James, and Travis Scott.
But it's his friendship with the "Stranger Things" actress that got everyone talking and caused some controversy.
Now, the 'Hold On, We're Going Home' singer has fired back at his critics.
The controversy ignited in 2018 when Brown, who was only 14 at the time, disclosed that 31-year-old Drake was texting her for 'advice about boys'.
Speaking to Access Hollywood, the Enola Holmes actress said: “I love him. I met him in Australia and he’s honestly so fantastic — a great friend and a great role model.
“We just texted each other the other day. He was like, ‘I miss you so much.’ I was like, ‘I miss you more’.
When asked what the pair would talk about, she didn’t go into too much detail but did say:
“About boys, he helps me. He’s great, he’s wonderful. I love him.”
The news of their friendship made the headlines due to their 17-year age gap, however, Brown defended their relationship in an Instagram story at the time, expressing:
“Why u gotta make a lovely friendship ur headline? U guys are weird…”
She continued, “I’m lucky to have people in the business extend their time to help me further my career and offer their wisdom and guidance. I’m very blessed to have amazing people in my life. U don’t get to choose that for me.”
“It’s nice to have people understand what I do,” Brown adds. “Now get back to talking about real problems in this world other than my friendships… jeez.”
After several years, Drake has finally addressed those who had reservations about their friendship.
In a track from his latest album 'For All The Dogs' titled 'Another Late Night,' featuring Lil Yachty, he echoes Brown's sentiments and refers to the critics as 'weirdos.'
The ‘Passionfruit’ artist raps: “Weirdos in my comments talkin’ ’bout some Millie Bobby, look."
“Bring them jokes up to the gang, we get to really flockin’ / Or send a finger to your mama in some FedEx boxes / Open up that s**t, it’s jaw droppin’, really shockin’.”
Following the release of his much-anticipated album, Drake made it known during an appearance on the SiriusXM show "Table For One" that he's planning to step away from the music industry for a while to prioritize his health, as reported by the Independent.
“I probably won’t make music for a little bit,” the ‘Take Care’ artist said. “I need to focus on my health, first and foremost, and I’ll talk about that soon enough.
“Nothing crazy, but just like, you know, I want people to be healthy in life.”
He continued:
"I need to get right. I have a lot of other things that, I would love to focus on. So I'm gonna lock the door in the studio for a little bit. I don't even know what a little bit is. Maybe, maybe a year or something, or maybe a little longer.”
In the meantime, the actress from "Godzilla vs. Kong" is keeping busy with preparations for her upcoming wedding to Jake Bongiovi, 21, who happens to be the son of the legendary Jon Bon Jovi.
After Brown's engagement to Bongiovi back in April, many Stranger Things fans offered their commiserations to Noah Schnapp, who'd previously had a marriage pact with his co-star.
While promoting season four of the hit Netflix show last year, the pair discussed what they might do if neither of them meets someone in the future – and they said they reckon they would actually make a decent couple.
Brown told MTV News: "We said if we're not married by 40, we'll get married together because we'd be good roomies.
"Completely platonically, we would still be really good roomies."
Speaking to Schnapp, she added: "No kids, though, because I could not deal with a child of yours, yeah, that's my dealbreaker too. Yeah, no kids at all.
"Only dogs, and separate bedrooms, for sure, my God, you're so messy."
At this moment, it remains unclear whether Drake will be in attendance at the wedding.
