Driver Plunges Smart Car 35ft Down Lift Shaft After Mistaking It For A Parking Spot
Finding a decent spot to park your car can sometimes be a nightmare.
However, a woman's parking incident got even worse after she allegedly mistook a lift for a parking space in an underground parking garage.

After looking for a spot to park her Smart car, the 38-year-old driver, who is from Stuttgart, Germany, was hurled 35 feet down the lift shaft on Saturday.
But because the lift was in fact not a place where a car should go, at around 10:30 am, the doors burst open, sending her car on a 10-meter vertical drop that ended with it crashing upside down on top of the lift.

When the woman managed to free herself, she immediately made a call to the nearby firefighters for assistance.
A spokesperson for Stuttgart Fire Department said of the incident: "The woman was able to climb out of her Smart and make an emergency call with her cell phone."

The driver was then saved by two firefighters who abseiled down the lift shaft while strapping her to a stretcher.
Other firefighters assisted in pulling her to safety after she received first aid care.
Firemen quickly removed the lift from service after covering the destroyed lift door with wood in an effort to stop any further parking accidents.
The Smart car that had crashed was then brought to the surface by specialists.
The fire rescue organization's press and public relations officer, Daniel Anand, issued the following statement: "After being rescued from the elevator shaft, the person was handed over to the rescue service and taken to a hospital for further treatment."
The woman then described the incident to the German publication Bild: "I have no idea how that could have happened. Physically, I'm fine again."
