The study was published in 2016 and looked into how masturbating can lower the risk of prostate cancer
Study Reveals How Often Men Should Ejaculate Each Month To Help Lower Prostate Cancer Risk
A scientific study has revealed that there might be a surprising way for men to reduce their risk of developing prostate cancer and it involves how often they ejaculate each month.
According to data from the American Cancer Society, one in eight men will face a prostate cancer diagnosis at some point in their lives. And more than 35,000 men in the U.S. are expected to die from the disease in 2025.
Most prostate cancers are found in men aged 65 and up. Research also shows that African American men and Caribbean men with African ancestry are at an even higher risk of being affected by the illness.
Prostate cancer is currently the second most deadly form of cancer for men, trailing only behind lung cancer, as reported by the American Cancer Society.
That’s why it’s so important for men to know what they can do to lower their risk as much as possible.
Interestingly, one study found that men who ejaculate around once per day, roughly 21 times per month had a 20 percent lower chance of being diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The study was carried out by Harvard University researchers who tracked a group of 31,925 men. Over the course of nearly two decades, these participants answered three different surveys about how often they ejaculated, starting in 1992 and continuing through 2010.
As published in the journal European Urology in 2016, the researchers explained: "We evaluated whether ejaculation frequency throughout adulthood is related to prostate cancer risk in a large US-based study."
They added: "We found that men reporting higher compared to lower ejaculatory frequency in adulthood were less likely to be subsequently diagnosed with prostate cancer."
"These findings provide additional evidence of a beneficial role of more frequent ejaculation throughout adult life in the aetiology of PCA prostate cancer, particularly for low-risk disease."
Besides helping lower prostate cancer risk, masturbation may also have a bonus benefit - it could help improve sleep.
This point was even emphasized by Barmer Krankenkasse, a German health insurance provider, who shared: "Masturbation helps you fall asleep."

"If you can't sleep again, just use your hand to pleasure yourself, or use a toy, then sleep comes all by itself."
And it's not just insurance providers making the case. Judith Golden, a registered sex therapist, explained to Reader’s Digest: Best Health that masturbation may actually help people who struggle with sleep issues.
She explained: "Just as people fall into a deep sleep after sex with a partner, because blood pressure is lowered and relaxation is increased through the release of endorphins, masturbation is a good sleeping pill."
"It is relied on by many as a nightly occurrence."
