Eminem has stunned a huge part of the internet with an unexpectedly savage comeback after someone claimed there’s no word in the English language that rhymes with “silver.”

The rapper, famously known as Slim Shady, has built his career on unmatched wordplay and lyrical skill — something his fans often say makes him one of the greatest to ever do it in the music industry.

So when a social media challenge came his way from someone who clearly underestimated him, Eminem — whose real name is Marshall Mathers — wasn’t about to let it slide.

UberFacts posted a tweet saying: "There's no word in English that rhymes with 'silver.'", which was followed up by the Rock The Bells account tagging: "@Eminem you have 24 hours!"

Of course, Eminem wasn’t going to take that challenge lightly. Just over 24 hours later, he fired back with a response that quickly went viral for its brutal creativity.

Mathers clapped back on Twitter with: "Silver pilfer kill fer Gilbert's still hurts steel shirts Bill Burr milf word off kilter no filter chill brrrr feel burn still slur will stir Trent dilfer Val kilmer Still third shield her he'll squirt Steven Spielberg Lil twerp Wilshire She'll purr Kill birds milk curd feel worth Real nerd Stans documentary I liked your film sir."

Fans have been left shocked by the response Scott Legato/Getty Images

"This should have like a million likes." one person commented, while another replied: "LMAOOOOOOO you're a genius."

While his music has earned him legendary status, Eminem has never been far from controversy throughout his career.

He has spoken openly about his past struggles with drug addiction, although he’s now been sober for more than 17 years — a fact that has become an important part of his personal story.

The “Lose Yourself” rapper recalled how, back in 2007, he was caught in what he described as a “vicious cycle” of feeling “depressed” and relying on “more pills” — until one day he woke up in a hospital bed.

"I didn't how what the f*** happened. It seemed like I fell asleep, and I woke up with tubes in me and s***." he revealed in a documentary, according to PEOPLE. "I wanted to get up. I couldn't move."

"After the overdose, I came home going, 'Yo, bro, I need something... I'm going to die if I don't do something.'" he added, describing the moment he knew he had to make a change.

Shortly after starting recovery, Eminem released his 2009 album Relapse. While he admits that fan reaction to the record was “lukewarm,” it motivated him to push forward in his sobriety and career.

"That also turned the lights on and I thought, 'You've gotta do something different.'" he continued. "Why don't you try embracing sobriety?"

"I realized I'm not embarrassed anymore about it, and I started treating sobriety like a superpower. I was proud of the fact that I could quit."
