Mom looking for sitter prints out ridiculous demands for minimal pay. Sparks outrage on internet because of her entitlement. Her list includes wanting a Master’s degree and no social media.
Every mom wants the best for their children so yes, you will be a little careful when choosing babysitters. This mom however decided that her kids needed more than the average babysitter and shared a list of ridiculous demands for her future employee to follow.
In an image that was shared on Reddit, she said that she needed a babysitter to watch her four children all under the age of 8. She would also need the sitter to work throughout the week from 12 - 6 p.m. In addition, she mentions occasional weekends.
Lots of hours sure, but the flag isn’t red quite yet. Not to worry, it’ll be crimson soon enough.
In a bulleted list just below she outlines that she wants a good cook and cleaner that is over the age of 25. She also stipulates that the babysitter has a master’s degree.
She further adds that they shouldn't have social media accounts because she didn't want her children to be near that.
The sitter wasn’t allowed to smoke, drink nor vape. They also weren’t allowed to have tattoos or piercings.
She asked for five professional references because she considers her household Apple Inc. and presumably needs to share them with HR.
She would also conduct a drug test and background check.
Now all of this was terrible enough but the real kicker was that she wanted all of that done for $200/week.
The sitter, finally, (because the list doesn't end there), must also have their own transport that they must help the mom run errands with.
When this story hit the internet, people were shocked and taken aback not only by the unreasonable demands but also the compensation for the role.
One user refused to believe anyone could be that oblivious.
Another shared their own experience of receiving far more ten years ago.
For most, it was the entitlement and lack of pay that really stood out.
Some pointed out that this entire package was to watch four kids and not just one.
The mother clearly wanted someone who could handle every job in the household which was an unrealistic expectation.
Some that did the math realised that the pay was well under minimum wage and certainly exploitative considering the number of responsibilities.
Another user pointed out that those with Master's degrees were not the ones looking for babysitting jobs.
