A theologian has challenged many of the traditional beliefs people hold about the Devil and Hell, raising questions about whether sinners actually burn for eternity.

Jared Brock has dedicated years to studying the concept of the afterlife from a religious perspective. He even authored a book titled A Devil Named Lucifer.

Through an in-depth examination of various Biblical passages, he has come to conclusions that differ from mainstream interpretations.

One of the most widespread misconceptions, according to Brock, is the idea that the Devil rules over Hell, breathing fire upon the souls of the condemned.

However, after analyzing the final book of the New Testament, the Book of Revelation, he argues that this widely accepted idea is not actually supported by scripture.

The passage in question, Revelation 12:15, states: "The serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, to sweep her away with a flood."

Hell is frequently mentioned throughout the Bible, but the texts suggest there could be as many as six different places where the "underworld" or afterlife for sinners might be.

It is a common belief among those who follow religious teachings that those who fail to repent will be denied entry into Heaven and instead be sent to Hell for eternity.

However, Brock questions this assumption. While he isn't completely certain, he believes this idea might not be as clear-cut as many assume.

He also delves into the nature of Hell itself, questioning whether it is a physical location or simply a state of being where lost souls reside.

During an interview with the Mail Online, Brock shared his thoughts: "Are these physical? Are they spiritual? Are they forever? Are they for a limited period of time? And the answer to all of that is we just don't know."

That naturally leads to the subject of Satan. Often portrayed as a red-skinned, horned figure wielding a pitchfork and sporting a goatee—sometimes even hooves—Satan is a character many believe to be terrifying in appearance. But Brock argues that this depiction isn't backed by scripture.

Speaking with the publication, he explained: "I think culture just got so obsessed with this idea of this little red devil on your shoulder haunting you at all times."

In fact, Brock insists that Satan is not a physical being like Jesus. Instead, he suggests that Satan is a spiritual entity, capable of appearing in attractive and appealing forms to lead people into temptation.

Brock elaborated further: "There's two words in the Bible for the devil. One means accuser, and one means adversary. Nothing is saying the devil can be in all places at all times. He's not omnipresent like God is."

Christian teachings also emphasize the belief that Lucifer was cast out of Heaven and sent to Hell, along with his demons.

The Book of Revelation 12:7-9 describes this event: "And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer."

"So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."
