The thought of spiders make my skin crawl (pun intended). Simply the thought of one puts me on edge, I literally hate the little buggers. I say ‘little’, I know that in some parts of the world (places, I will never ever visit) the eight legged freaks are slightly bigger than the ones who have set up camp in Old Blighty. Although, I’m not sure what you lot have been feeding them over here in England because I’m pretty sure they’re growing – there have been a number of reports of horny mouse-sized spider invading UK homes. Suddenly the Australian outback is becoming more appealing than I once thought.
My dad has always tried his best to help me get over my fear; I think it’s safe to say that I haven’t quite conquered it yet. His technique usually involves him giving me a pep talk of, “Molly, it’s more scared of you than you are of them”, which is probably bullshit otherwise they’d stay outside, or,”Molly, it can’t hurt you!”
Oh how wrong could one man be?
#1 33-year-old Sunil Dade was bitten by what he believes to be a false widow spider, and as you can see he suffered some horrific injuries at the hands (or fangs) of the arachnid.
The plumber from West London told the Mail Online, "It was like I'd been struck by lightening. I started shaking, my legs, my arms, uncontrollably. I ran into the house crying and shouting for my younger brother Sandeep who's 25, to help me."
#2 Sunil was taking in washing from the garden, when he slung a hoodie over his shoulder and the attack took place. He said, “He (Sandeep) pointed to my hoodie. On top of it was the dead spider with a fat body just under an inch across. I’ve seen spiders with longer legs but this had this big hard black body, with white and grey on it, and it had these fangs. Only later did I look on the internet and find it was a venomous false widow spider.”
Despite the fact that the victim said the pain was "a million times worse" than a bee sting and left him in more agony then when he broke two vertebrae. Remarkably he didn't go and see his GP until the next day.
ARE YOU CRAZY?
#3 The Londoner was prescribed antibiotics and over the next few days the skin surrounding the bite on his neck started to peel and turn black. However, by this point the spider had been thrown away, meaning that it is difficult to know for sure exactly what Sunil was bitten by.
Having said this, doctors have confirmed that it was definitely something venomous DUH!
The morale of this story: stay away from spiders and never do washing.
