Imagine saving up for a whole year to treat your family to a dream vacation, only to see that dream slip away right before your eyes.

That was the nightmarish experience Tisha LaSaine from Brooklyn had with her three kids after spending an astounding $8,500 on a week-long cruise.

The big splurge was meant to celebrate LaSaine’s 50th birthday and to help send her eldest son, Kaseem, off to Hampton College in Virginia.

However, their long-awaited holiday was ruined due to a ‘crew issue’ with their flight from John F. Kennedy Airport in Queens to Orlando, Florida.

The flight was scheduled to depart shortly before 10am and land just under three hours later.

This would have given them plenty of time to catch their cruise, which was only 45 minutes away from the airport and was set to leave at 3:30pm from Port Canaveral.

Tisha LaSaine and her three children, including eldest Kaseem, missed their cruise due to 'crew issues' with flight ABC 7

Speaking with ABC 7, Kaseem said: “We took off at 11:40am. Our flight was scheduled for 9:54.”

Instead of landing at the planned time of 12:51pm, they arrived about three hours later.

This delay meant they missed their chance to board the cruise.

LaSaine had to break the devastating news to her two young children, her mother, and Kaseem that they wouldn’t be able to make it to the cruise.

“I went to my mom and told her ‘Mom I don’t think we’re going to make it,’” the postal worker said.

Understandably, she was utterly distraught.

It’s hard not to be, especially when you’re traveling with young kids.

LaSaine and Kaseem were left distraught after missing their $8,500 cruise ABC 7

When they finally reached the dock, it was too late.

They had no choice but to watch as the thousands of dollars LaSaine spent on the cruise just sailed away.

She said: “I think I cried more than the kids and it was for them.”

Kaseem added: “We missed the whole trip. That’s a whole week. That’s eight days.”

The cruise line did offer the family a full refund.

But when they tried to get the same from Delta Airlines, it was a different story.

Kaseem explained that Delta offered them e-credit of $250 per person for the flight, which didn’t cover their expenses adequately.

That’s when they reached out to the news station, which put pressure on the airline.

In response to the outlet, Delta said: “Delta apologizes for the delay that led to the circumstances.”

The company has since issued a full refund.
