Why does it have to be called fencing? When I think of fencing I think about a guy building a fence not someone sword fighting.

Olympic fencing shouldn't be a thing. I get that it takes a bunch of skill but it's just not exciting.

When you watch a fencing match you expect to see epic swashbuckling but what you get is something more like stand fighting.

I know they wear a lot of padding but apparently, it doesn't completely reduce the pain. It still hurts to be poked.
