According to a retired fisherman, he found a piece of the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

On March 8, 2014, the notorious aircraft, carrying 12 crew members and 227 passengers, vanished from sight.

The missing flight's debris was never located, and it appeared to have vanished without a trace despite one of the biggest marine searches in history.

However, Australian retired fisherman Kit Olver claims that he discovered a portion of the pieces only a few months after the jet vanished.

According to Kit, he believes he has brought out a portion of an airplane wing with his deep-sea trawler.

Kit, a former pilot, realized the wing was too large to be from a private jet or smaller aircraft when it first emerged.

He couldn't fit it on his boat because of its size, but he was able to locate it and informed the authorities of his discovery.

In the end, he had to cut the net loose because it might have endangered the boat.

He called the wing a "bloody great wing of a big jet airliner" while describing it.

Kit, who is now 77 years old, revealed how it has haunted him ever since.

To the Sydney Morning Herald, he said: “I’ve questioned myself; I’ve looked for a way out of this. I wish to Christ I’d never seen the thing … but there it is. It was a jet’s wing.”

He added: “This thing was much bigger than anything in the private plane category.”

George Currie spent more than twenty years serving as first mate on numerous of Kit's boats.

Speaking about the day the wing was discovered, he said: “You’ve got no idea what trouble we had when we dragged up that wing.

“It was incredibly heavy and awkward. It stretched out the net and ripped it. It was too big to get up on the deck."

He added: “As soon as I saw it I knew what it was. It was obviously a wing, or a big part of it, from a commercial plane. It was white, and obviously not from a military jet or a little plane. It took us all day to get rid of it.”

A new search for the missing wreckage is being conducted by Ocean Infinity, which Kit contacted in 2017.

The email he sent out clarified that at that time, there had been no additional interest in the discovery.

This is because it is believed that, hundreds of kilometers from where Kit and his crew discovered the wing, flight MH370 went down in the Southern Indian Ocean.

Plus, he was initially informed that there had been a missing shipping container in the region, so that could have been the reason.

Nonetheless, Kit wrote: "I have trawled for 35 years and this was not a shipping container.”

"Having over the years trawled up all sorts of objects, including aircraft, I am convinced this was an aircraft wing."

This discovery raises some serious doubts, even though it's unclear if it actually belongs to the missing airplane.
