The apparent champions of the Lake Erie Walleye Trail Championship are being accused of stuffing weights into the fish they captured.
After allegedly defrauding the judges, two fishermen were eliminated from a fishing competition in Cleveland. Due to the discovery of weights and fillets in their winning walleye, professional angler Jake Runyan and his partner Chase Kaminsky had their reward taken away.
Jason Fisher, the director of the Lake Erie Walleye Trail, anticipated the five fish to weigh no more than four pounds, but they actually hit the scales at a whopping 34 pounds.
“I thought, no way,” he told Tanmoyworld. “I could even hear the crowd muttering, ‘No way, no way”
“I physically felt the fish, I could feel the solid inside the fish,” he said.
After he inspects a fish, he finds its stomach unusually hard. “It’s not like they’re eating rocks.”
A lead weight and another fish fillet from a little fish can be seen being removed from within the fish by the official in a video that has since gone viral.
Some say they "should be in jail," while others demand the judges "call the police." In the video, Mr. Fisher tells the fishers to leave while warning his enraged supporters not to harm them as the audience yells profanities.
The director informed Tanmoyworld that $28,760 in prizes will be awarded to the winners and that event organizers had contacted local law enforcement over the alleged fraud.
When Mr. Fisher once more criticized them at the Lake Erie Walleye Trail Tournament by stating "they'll never catch a fish," the controversy also overshadowed their prior victories.

Ross Robertson, a professional angler, says that cheating in fishing is more common than most people believe. “You have to consider that in some of these tournaments, an ounce can mean tens, or hundreds, of thousands of dollars,” he said, as quoted by the New York Times.
He said that among the numerous methods to cheat, some fishermen fill fish with ice since it adds weight while frying but melts later, however this claim was unsupported by any evidence.
“How many f****** tournaments have you made it to?” A man can be heard screaming, as Mr. Fisher begins to tear five fish in front of him. In a dramatic moment, he pulls golf ball-sized lead weights from them one by one, as another witness is heard shouting “What the f***!”
The two men had packed each fish with walleye fillets in addition to various weights, as shown in the video. Since the couple won the 2021 competition and received more than $100,000 in prize money, other contenders demanded their imprisonment.
An official yelled out “We got weights in fish!”. According to a video taken during the event
There has been no announcement on whether they will face any legal action. But according to reports, Runyan and Cominksy have engaged in dubious behavior before. When other teams donated their catches to nearby food banks, several competition participants said that the squad declined to do so.
There is obviously something strange going on in Ohio.
