Five Guys Finally Explained Why It Charges So Much For Burger And Chips

In 2024, Five Guys is not the best place to go if you're looking for a cheap meal.

Their prices are pretty high, so it's not a great choice for people trying to save money.

If you want a tasty but budget-friendly meal, it might be better to try other restaurants.

There are plenty of places that offer good food at lower prices, which can be a smarter choice if you're watching your spending.

You've probably heard some people say Five Guys makes the most delicious burgers around, even better than In-N-Out!

However, eating at Five Guys can be really expensive.

In 2022, someone was very surprised when they had to pay $70 just for two meals at Five Guys! That's a lot of money for a burger and fries. 

More recently, someone on the internet site Reddit complained that Five Guys has "crazy" high prices.

They shared a picture of their receipt, showing they paid $24.10 for just one person's food, And they didn't even order a lot - just a bacon cheeseburger, small fries, and a soda.

Over the years, many people have criticized Five Guys for charging so much money, but the restaurant has defended their high prices.

They say it's because they use fresh ingredients and make everything by hand.

"People come to Five Guys for a simple, great American burger. And that's what they will get here," said Iain Ross-Mackenzie, director of operations-APAC at Five Guys International, in an interview with TRP.

Iain also mentioned that Five Guys won’t change their flavors to match local tastes because they want to keep their menu the same everywhere.

They also take pride in using fresh ingredients, unlike many other restaurants. 

"Nothing in store is frozen. We only ever use fresh ingredients," Iain explained.

Five Guys makes sure that customers enjoy burgers made with top-quality ingredients.

The beef patties and vegetables are super fresh, and the fries are hand-cut in-store from potatoes from around the world.

Although Five Guys costs more than other fast food places, they give you a lot of fries. This is something the founder, Jerry Murrell, encourages.

"I won't name names, but other restaurants just don't give a satisfying amount of fries. We always give an extra scoop," he told Food Republic back in 2016.

"I say load 'em up and make sure they get their money's worth. [Some] people complain that they get too many fries.

"I just tell them to make hash browns with the leftovers. I teach my managers that if people aren't complaining, then you're not giving them enough."

So, even though Five Guys might be a bit pricey, you'll definitely get a lot of fries with your meal!

Even though the prices are high, Five Guys wants to make sure you feel like you’re getting your money’s worth. 

So, when you order fries, expect a lot of them! Some people think it's too many, but Jerry Murrell, the founder, thinks it’s better to give more than not enough.

Just be prepared for the higher prices and enjoy the extra fries!
