A highly unexpected math lesson was taught to a fourth-grade class at the Academy of Innovative Education in Miami Springs on Monday, October 2.

The students, who were between the ages of nine and ten, were taught additional biology concepts in place of prime numbers and multiples. They also learned about starving, what happens to cherished childhood character Eeyore when he becomes supper, and how to ground someone in a wood chipper.

Parent Michelle Diaz tells CBS News Miami that parents are not happy their little angel was subjected to an impressive 20 to 30 minutes of the slasher before the teacher turned it off.

Fortunately, the kids probably didn't get to the part where Piglet mauls a university student to death or activates the wood chipper.

The mother, who is the parent of twins in the fourth grade, claims that the students selected the film, but she counters: "It's not for them to decide what they want to. It's up to the professor to look at the content."

The movie has an NR rating, which indicates it is not rated; nonetheless, you may choose whether it is suitable to show to minors based on the synopsis.

The summary says, according to IMDB: "After Christopher Robin abandons them for college, Pooh and Piglet embark on a bloody rampage as they search for a new source of food."

Additionally, Diaz says the teacher was urged to "stop the movie" by the students, but he "didn't."

She resolves: "I feel completely abandoned by the school."

Head of the school, Vera Hirsh, said: "Last week, a video was mistakenly shown by a teacher during indoor lunch.”

"Only the first 20 minutes of the movie was played. During those first 20 minutes, there was a scary scene that was shown. At that point, the teacher turned off the video.”

"The issue was promptly addressed with the teacher, students, and parents that were involved. Parents were reassured that the school has followed all school district policies and procedures in response to the incident and will continue to support the student’s safety and well-being on a daily basis."

'At AIE, learning is focused on active exploration of major concepts, ideas, and theories through hands-on learning and real-life problem solving,' the school vision statement reads.

'Students will be challenged to use scientific knowledge and critical thinking skills as they take ownership of their personal academic exploration and growth.'

When the Academy of Innovative Education originally opened its doors in 2011, it was a K–3 institution that would gradually add grades.

It graduated its first senior class and became a K–12 school last year.

A specific emphasis on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, or STEAM, is placed on the curriculum.

AIE states that the Florida Department of Education gave the Elementary and Middle/High School an "A" school grade; however, this claim cannot be verified because the DOE has not yet made data from the previous year public.
