Florida Teacher Arrested After Missing Boy Found Hidden In Her Home
A Florida high school teacher was detained after it was reported that she had been hiding a missing teenager within her house for days.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, while searching for the missing 12-year-old kid, investigators learned information from his parents that led them to the Port Charlotte house of instructor Kelly Simpson, 31.
On Wednesday, when police discovered the teen inside her house, Simpson was detained for interfering with a minor's custody.
The youngster was taken by Simpson from an unidentified location and hidden inside her house, according to the sheriff's office, who was aware that he had been reported missing and was in danger.
According to jail records, Simpson was freed on a $5,000 bond on Wednesday.
According to a statement sent to WFTX, the Charlotte County School District has since placed Simpson on administrative leave from her position at Charlotte High School.
“Charlotte County Public Schools takes an incident such as this very seriously,” the statement said. “The safety, protection, and well-being of our students are a top priority.”
