Malachi Love-Robinson really wants to be a doctor but does not have the time or dedication to do what needs to be done legally for him to become one. Instead, he posed as a doctor and stole from his patients. News reports say that a Palm Beach County judge has sentenced the 20-year-old to 3.5 years in prison. He pled guilty to grand theft, practicing medicine without a license, and other charges.

Love-Robinson was facing 14 criminal charges and was scheduled to go to trial next month. As part of his sentencing, he will have to repay the $80,00 that he stole once he gets out of prison. He had been arrested in February 2016 by the police for practicing medicine without a license. They say that the young man ran a medical practice illegally.

Police went undercover to catch the phony doctor. A female officer went to 'The New Birth New Life Medical Center' complaining of lethargy, sore throat, and sneezing. Love-Robinson took her temperature and used his stethoscope to check her lungs and heart. He diagnosed the undercover officer with allergies and recommended an OTC medicine. The officer said that Love-Robinson said that he was a doctor of homeopathic medicine. He also claimed that he had a medical doctor on staff so there was someone to prescribe antibiotics.

Love-Robinson has defended his actions in several interviews. He has consistently denied that he ever told anyone that he was a medical doctor. But, he has claimed in the past that he has a Ph.D. even though he has never provided documentation that proves it.

Love-Robinson says, "There are many types of degrees out there that hold the title of doctor – whether they are physicists or engineers." He also says that just because someone has "doctor" at the front of their name it does not mean or imply that they are a medical doctor.

Love-Robinson was a mere 17-years-old when he was found walking the halls of St. Mary's Medical Center in a doctor's lab coat and talking to patients. He ended up filing the necessary paperwork to open his own practice.

Love-Robinson is not new to being in trouble. Previously, he pled guilty to charges when he tried to buy a Lexus using fake pay stubs. In March, he was charged with two counts of practicing medicine without a license. He had also been charged with two counts of practicing naturopathy without a license, two counts of grand theft from a person 65 or older, and three counts of forgery. On top of all of that, he was charged with three counts of fraudulent use of personal identification information. This guy is a real winner, right?

As if all that was not enough for this guy, he was arrested and charged, back in August, for writing a bad check in the amount of $1,500 as a down payment for a car at a Nissan dealership in May 2015. Since Love-Robinson pled guilty to his current charges, he dodged a sentence that could have sent him to prison for 90 years. Hopefully, his time in the clink will give him some time to think about making good decisions about his life.
