It turns out life at Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion wasn't exactly clean, by any means
Former ‘Bunny’ Reveals The Horrifying Reality Of Living In The Playboy Mansion
A former Playboy 'Bunny' has come forward to reveal the disturbing truth about what it was really like to live in the Playboy mansion.
The glamorous image many people have is a far cry from the reality experienced by those who lived there.
While celebrities like Mike Tyson, Jack Nicholson, Rihanna, and Leonardo DiCaprio often flocked to Hugh Hefner's mansion for its legendary parties, the scene behind closed doors was quite different.
Alongside the celebrity guests, there was a group of women who actually lived there full-time. These women were known as the Bunnies.
The reality series The Girls Next Door offered fans a glimpse into life at the mansion.
It showcased the Bunnies living together under one roof with Hefner’s wife and his many girlfriends. It seemed like a life of luxury on the surface.
But let’s be honest. When most people think about what it would be like to live in the Playboy mansion, a few key things likely come to mind: glamour, wealth, and, of course, sex.
The Playboy image was built on these ideas.
However, as more former Bunnies start to speak out about their experiences, it’s becoming clear that life in the mansion was far from the glamorous picture many imagined.
It was actually pretty 'grubby' and unappealing.
Izabella St. James, who once lived at the Los Angeles mansion, decided to share her experience in a tell-all memoir called Bunny Tales.
In it, she pulled back the curtain on what life was really like inside. She revealed:
"We all did our best to decorate our rooms and make them homely, but the mattresses on our beds were disgusting - old, worn and stained."
St. James explained that Hefner did 'eventually' allow them to have their rooms painted and re-carpeted. But the changes came with specific requirements.
"He liked the girlfriends' rooms to look very girly, all white carpet and pink walls," St. James added, pointing out that Hefner had very particular tastes.
Hefner, however, seemed perfectly fine with the state of the carpets. The one in his bedroom hadn’t been changed for years.
Things became significantly worse when Holly Madison moved in as Girlfriend No. 1 shortly after St. James arrived. Madison brought along her two dogs, which added to the problem.
St. James revealed that the dogs were not house-trained.
They would simply 'do their business' on the carpet without any consequences.
"Late at night, if any of us visited Hef's bedroom, we'd almost always end up standing in dog mess," she said.
The idea of glamour quickly fades when you picture that.
And she didn’t stop there. The former model went on to describe the overall state of the mansion.
"Everything in the Mansion felt old and stale, and Archie the house dog would regularly relieve himself on the hallway curtains, adding a powerful whiff of urine to the general scent of decay."
Another former model, Jenna Bentley, who also lived in the mansion for a year, shared her own insights into life under Hefner's roof.
She described some of the strict rules they had to follow, though it seemed the dogs enjoyed a bit more freedom.
Bentley revealed that the women had a strict 9 pm curfew.
If anyone missed it, they were apparently expected to sleep in the garden as a punishment.
Given the state of the carpets inside, maybe sleeping in the garden was actually the cleaner option.
