Losing a wallet can be annoying and the most you can usually do is come to terms with the loss, get on a phone call with your bank and sort your credit cards out.

33-year-old Gary Lee however not only got his cash and belongings back, but he also got internet fame for the day.

@Senasoup happened to cross the same street as Gary Lee and came across their lost wallet at the beach. A short video clip with the voice over “Gary Lee please DM me, I found your wallet.”

The TikToker made sure to cover up Lee’s personal details while showing his picture on the video.

Very quickly a lot of people, clearly swayed by the cards and cash, started coming forward claiming to be Gary Lee. Thus began the search for the one true Gary Lee.

People had even gone as far as to photoshop new profile pictures and create accounts using Lee’s license photo.

Luckily, a friend of the real Gary Lee happened upon the TikTok and managed to confirm the address and information that only the true Lee would have known.

This is when the two managed to schedule a meeting at a location in Manhattan’s East Village.

When the real Gary Lee came forward, he decided to make the announcement on the Tiktok page named @therealgarylee5.

@Senasoup said, “A whole bunch of us were at the beach and my friend Jimmy found the wallet on the boardwalk and told me about it. He wanted to make sure Gary got his wallet back and as soon as I heard that I said let’s make a TikTok.”
