That rich relative of yours might just leave you out of their will and give it to their pets like these people did!
Gigoo Has More Money Than Most People! Oh And Gigoo Is A Hen!
Trouble
Leona Helmsley, after her husband died, got herself a Maltese pup and name her "Trouble". Trouble lived in the $35 million estate, Dunnellen Hall, in Greenwich, Conn.
In Leona Helmsley's will she bequeathed Trouble $12 million of her estate. A judge later reduced Trouble's inheritance to $2 million, determining that it was a bit excessive for the care of the dog.
The struggle was real for "Princess" Trouble...A title Mrs. Helmsley demanded staff refer to her as and not "dog". She flew in private jets, although her preferred method of transportation was a Mercedes stretch limo. She had diamond studded collars and was served on silver and china plates with fresh chicken and vegetables prepared by the chef of the Helmsley hotel.
Shortly after Leona's death, Trouble moved in with a caretaker at the Helmsley Sandcastle Hotel in Florida; he received $100,000 per year to care for her. Some of the allotted funds went for grooming at $8,000 a year and $1,200 for food and a whopping $98,000 a year for a full time body guard!
Trouble has since pass on to Rainbow Bridge. Leona requested that Trouble be buried besides her in the family mausoleum, but the cemetery refused as New York doesn't allow it however it might be possible to have Leona buried with Trouble in a pet cemetery - however nothing has been decided yet and Trouble's remains are being held privately in an undisclosed place.
Blackie
Who says black cats are unlucky? "Blackie" isn't unlucky, in face Blackie was very lucky. His owner Ben Rea who was an antique dealer, shared his mansion with 14 other cats besides Blacking. At the time of his death, Blackie was the only surviving cat to which Rea left his fortune to. With nothing going to any of his "human" family. Rea split most of his fortune between 3 animal charities with the condition they take care of his beloved cat Blackie.
As of 2011 Guinness Book of World Records named Blackie as the world's richest cat. Although now in 2016 I believe Grumpy Cat might hold that record at an estimated $100 million.
There is no word on where Blackie is today but hopefully he is living a comfortable life like his owner wished.
Gigoo
Can you believe? A Hen? Gigoo inherited $15 million when his owner publishing tycoon Miles Blackwell passed away. Blackwell and his wife sold their interest in the family business and retired to the country to breed and raise spiral horned Manx Loaghtan sheep and rare Scots Dumpy hens.
The couple had no children and died with in three weeks of each other with his wife passing first.
Gigoo was their favorite pet.
Really? A chicken?
Gunther IV
The original $81 million was actually left to his father Gunther III. Because of the way the will was written the inheritance continues to be passed down to the decedents of Gunther III. By the time Gunther IV came along, the net worth climbed to $375 million due to the investments the trustees made. Making him so far the world's richest dog.
Gunther IV has his own limo with chauffeur, a personal maid and a custom-built swimming pool.
Gunther IV also owns several villas and mansions in Italy and the Bahamas. Including one that was once own by Madonna and has put a bid on Sylvester Stallone's.
Countess Karlotta Liebenstein passed away in 1991 and Gunther III was her only heir.
Tommaso
Out of an estimated 180,000 stray cats that roam Rome's streets, this lucky feline found a forever home with Italian widow Maria Assunta who was once married to an Italian property tycoon. Maria had no children.
Tommaso was 4 years old when he picked his human. When Assunta's health started to fail in 2009 she wrote a will and left her fortune to Tommaso. Italy's law prohibits animals from directly inheriting.
Maria couldn't find a suitable shelter for her beloved feline. However, her nurse Stefania promised that she would take care of her cat. To avoid scammers and kidnappers or in this case "catnappers", Stefania and Tommaso live outside of Rome in an undisclosed location.
Tommaso is the 3rd richest pet in the world.
Conchita (Chihuahua), Lucia (Yorkshire terrier) and April Marie (Maltese)
Conchita, Lucia and April Marie, were left a mansion, a car (Gold Escalade)and $3 million that was put in to a trust fund, when their owner Miami Socialite Gail Posner passed away in 2010.
These pooches ride in the Escalade every week to the pet spa. They were also dubbed at one time to be the most papered dogs in the world, especially Conchita. Conchita wears Cartier necklaces, pearls and designer bikinis and even "carries" around Louis Vuitton bags. Conchita would also frequent the nightclubs around Miami with her owner. She also had her own bedroom and bathroom!
Posner's staff was given $27 million and were allowed to stay in the mansion as long as they continued to care for the dogs.
Posner only left her son $1 million. He believes her staff influenced her and made mention of this to his mom on his last visit at her house and she replied "I know" since then he wasn't allowed (by staff) so see his mother until she was literally on her death bed.
Turtle Silverstone
Turtle Silverstone may not be quite as wealthy as the others listed but he did inherit almost $200,000 when his owner, Christina Foyle, owner of Foyle's bookshop in London passed away.
Making Turtle Silverstone the 9th richest pet in the world. However, he does have to "share" his wealth with the felines of the house as well.
