After confronting an alleged masked shoplifter while shopping at Walmart, an elderly woman has been praised. The incident occurred on Saturday at the Campbell River Walmart in British Columbia and witnessed Elaine Gallaway, 73, confront a man accused of attempting to steal items.

The man is first seen in the clip wearing a balaclava and attempting to wheel a shopping cart full of merchandise out of the business. Darrell Johansen, who had been recording the scene, confronts him first.
Johansen can be heard asking the man: "You gonna pay for that?" However, the man continues to try to exit the store with the products, ignoring Johansen.
The putative shoplifter, however, does not get very far before being confronted by Gallaway, who blocks his exit with her cart.
Gallaway told Global News on Monday that she initially noticed the man stuffing "beef roasts in a backpack." She confronted the alleged shoplifter after paying for her purchases.
Galloway continued: "Then he ran into me and I said to him, "You coward, show your face to the camera.'"
She says she told the man: "I'm fed up with this bull****! Get out! You just jack up the price for everybody else."
She even tears the man's balaclava off at one point in the video.
Although seeing shoplifters can be frustrating, Cst. Maury Tyre of the Campell River Royal Canadian Mounted Police has recently informed CHEK that he does not encourage members of the public to intervene.
Tyre went on to say that in the past, some events have gotten out of hand, with shoplifters arming themselves with weapons or bear spray.
Walmart is a typical target for shoplifters, according to security expert Sean Smith, but Gallaway "did what everyone else wanted to do," and her efforts have made her very famous.
People have fallen in love with Galloway all over social media, with some even calling her a "hero."
She did state, however, that she does not encourage repeating her actions and that the man could have been armed.
'I was a bank teller for 17 years and I have been held up at gunpoint,' she explained, adding that her 'old training kicked in.'
Gallaway said she would help with the investigation if needed. 'I know that the police have said that if they get a clear view of the person, then they know who the suspect is that they’re looking for.'
There have been no arrests in the case so far, and authorities have stated that the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
Gallaway, meanwhile, told Global News that she is looking forward to the news story dying out so she may return to her normal, quiet life.
