The WWE divas have always had some great tag-teams despite having no tag-team championship
The tag-teams have been an important part of developing new talent, making new “pushes” & adding the opportunity for more divas to make appearances
For all these reasons, it has been difficult to keep the divas tag-teams together for extended periods of time
Even though the odds have been stacked against diva tag teams keeping intact, there have still been many memorable teams that deserve the recognition
The Bella Twins (Brie and Nikki Bella)
The Bella Twins have worked off and on as tag-team ever since they entered WWE in 2008. Brie Bella made her debut on Smackdown against Victoria, winning the match and starting a rivalry against Natalya and Victoria. Nikki had yet to make her debut and the twins started using "twin magic" to help Brie win her matches. Nikki would hide under the ring and once a tired Brie would hit the floor and roll under the ring, a "revived" Nikki would come out dressed just like Brie to finish the match.
The Divas of Doom (Natalya and Beth Phoenix)
The Divas of Doom started up in late 2010 when Beth Phoenix came to Natalya's aid following her victory in a handicap match against LayCool (Layla and Michelle McCool) that earned her the WWE Divas Championship. The duo attacked Natalya following the match and Phoenix, coming off an injury at the hands of McCool, jumped in to save her. This started a partnership that led to the first women's TLC match in WWE history against LayCool that was won by Phoenix and Natalya.
The Glamour Girls (Judy Martin, Leilani Kai)
One of the first diva tag-teams in the history of the WWE was the team of Judy Martin and Leilani Kai who won the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship in 1985. They became the platinum blonde Glamour Girls and were managed by Jimmy Hart. Following a long tour in Japan as part of the independent circuit, they appeared in the first ever Survivor Series in 1987 as a part of then diva's champion Sheri Martel's team.
LayCool (Layla and Michelle McCool)
One of the most dominant divas tag-teams of all-time would have to be the team of Layla and Michelle McCool, LayCool. The duo started teaming together in 2009, appearing primarily in Smackdown. They were the self-proclaimed WWE divas champions of their era, having beaten just about any pair they squared off against at least once. They bullied and harassed opponents, even getting into some trouble for going off on Mickie James for having issues with her weight. They were as ruthless with their mouths as they were wrestling in the ring.
Victoria and Natalya
Victoria finally got a chance to align with her best friend, Natalya, in April of 2008 after being in the WWE since 2000. Victoria and Natalya were part of a 6 on 6 divas match at the Backlash pay-per-view, with their team coming away with the victory. This started a run with the duo facing Michelle McCool and Cherry and later Maria and Brie Bella, all on Smackdown. On a November episode of Smackdown, Victoria and Natalya teamed up with Maryse to defeat the Bella Twins and McCool in what was one of Victoria's final highlights in the WWE.
Stacy Keibler and Torrie Wilson
Stacy Keibler and Torrie Wilson were part of the "Invasion" (2001) that followed when the WWE purchased the WCW and brought many of the displaced wrestlers into the WWE. When Keibler's contract was reinstated, she eventually teamed up with her real-life friend, Torrie Wilson, to feud with Trish Stratus and Lita. Wilson and Keibler faced Stratus and Lita in a memorable first ever tag-team bra and panties match at InVasion. They lost the match, but it ultimately led to Keibler getting a WWE Women's Championship match with Stratus at Judgement Day where she lost.
The Chickbusters (AJ Lee and Kaitlyn)
AJ Lee and Kaitlyn formed an alliance and a tag-team on Smackdown in May of 2011. In their first match with their ally at the time, Natalya, they lost to the team of Alicia Fox and Tamina. It took until a June episode of Raw for The Chickbusters to experience some measure of success thanks to being part of the winning side in a 14 diva tag-team match. The strong bodybuilder and fitness model, Kaitlyn, and the small, athletic and sassy, AJ Lee, actually made a good team but they were together at the wrong time.
Trish Stratus and Lita
Trish Stratus and Lita teamed up to earn some big wins on more than one occasion. Stratus was probably the most decorated WWE diva of all-time and Lita was one of the most popular WWE divas of her era. The alliance between the two made perfect sense in addition to making a quite formidable tag-team. They were both powerful and athletic as well as being very accomplished wrestlers in the ring.
Trish Stratus and Mickie James
Trish Stratus was certainly admired by many male WWE fans, but her most obsessed admirer was a woman, Mickie James. Stratus and James started to team up in late 2005 following Mickie's debut on Raw. The storyline had James being obsessed with Stratus to the point of learning all her finishing moves to use in matches, dressing like her and even confessing her love for her. The lesbian angle hid the fact that their tag-team was actually pretty legit. This storyline helped "push" Mickie James to the WWE Divas Championship which she won in 2006 by defeating Stratus after she turned on her.
Vince’s Devils (Torrie Wilson, Candice Michelle, Victoria)
In 2005, Torrie Wilson and Candice Michelle were moved up to Raw where they became part of a storyline as villains out to get Ashley Massaro. They were joined by the enforcer of the group, Victoria, to make up Vince's Devils or "The Skankateers", as Jim Ross affectionately called them. These three terrorized Massaro until she finally got some help from an unlikely source, Trish Stratus.
