However, right before the wedding, you get to learn about some weird family custom and tradition that leaves you questioning everything. Well, this is what happened to this guy when he learned only a few weeks before the wedding that it is his fiancee's family tradition that before the wedding, the groom spend the night with his future MIL at a date night and this date night includes taking the MIL to a hotel and spending a night with her.
Groom Outright Rejects Bride's Cringe Family Tradition Of Spending The Night With Her Mom
Marriage is considered a beautiful tradition of a union of two families. While it is the most important for the bride and groom, the event itself signifies the union of two families. And to note that different families have different wedding traditions that are considered an integral part of most wedding ceremonies.
Well, when it comes to family wedding traditions, we usually say to each their own. I mean why does it matter how people choose to celebrate their happiness, right?

Now that we are talking about family wedding traditions, I am sure many of you have had seen your fair share of weird and cringe wedding traditions. However, this one mentioned by this anonymous user on Reddit is outright creepy and after reading the post we can only wonder who on Earth can come up with such a bizarre tradition?

This guy recently took to the Reddit platform of AITA to share that his fiancee has a family tradition of the groom spending a date night with the future MIL before the wedding and the date night includes spending a night with the MIL at a hotel.
Apparently, this is a family tradition that began a long time ago as a way of "kicking off the marriage." Freaked out and somewhat confused, OP shares that he has refused to go with this tradition, and now the fiancee is upset that he is rejecting such a fun tradition.
The guy now asks Reddit if he is at the wrong here?

Internet labeled OP NTA
Reddit responded to the situation with equal confusion and bizarre expression. I mean who on Earth tests the groom in this manner?
People told OP that he is not the villain in the story for refusing to do something that he is clearly not comfortable doing.
Some people pointed out what will happen in the future if the OP and his wife will have daughter?
As this user pointed out, "[Has] anyone stopped to think that if they have a daughter, when daughter decides to marry, OPs wife would consider sleeping with her future [son-in-law]?"
Someone else actually posed this interesting query: "If they have a son does the FIL get to sleep with the bride? Does OP's father want to sleep with his wife ?"
However, the man has since clarified the tradition is exclusive to mother-in-laws and son-in-laws.
Few people shared that they found this tradition sweet.
"I think the idea of taking your future mother-in-law on a little dinner date before the wedding is a cute idea," this person wrote. "Like a bonding experience for the two of you. The hotel part seems to just take it over the edge from cute to hella weird."
OP had clarified that his fiancee's family is Roma to which someone pointed out that they have got it all wrong.
"I'm Roma and I can tell you this isn't normal and it's hella weird," this person revealed. "Does not happen. It's not a culture thing — it's a their family thing."
That same person later added, "Bride price you hear of. Arranged marriages you hear of. There's even silly traditions like paying the bride to dance with her during her wedding. But nothing like this."
