No one knew what was happening until Diogo got down on his knee and turned to Nicole's 6-year-old daughter, Isadora. When Diogo began dating Nicole, three years ago, she already had Isadora with a previous partner.

Isadora is not Diogo's biological child, but that was never an issue. On his wedding day to Nicole, the step-father made that clear. Diogo took a knee and proposed to Isadora.

He asked her if she would agree to be his daughter forever.

"Do you agree to be my daughter forever?" He asks. The 6-year-old tearfully replies, "Yes."

It is never easy for a child to accept a new parent. There is always a fear that they might go away someday. As Diogo put a ring on Isadora's finger, she knew her step-father was in it for keeps. It is pretty clear that any step-father who takes the time to include his new child in such an important day is a good one.

"My intention was to give her this special gift," Balant told Inside Edition. "Everyone was very emotional."
