Guy Asks Reddit If He Is The Jerk For Telling Girlfriend Her 'Off Putting' Apartment Is The Reason He Would Not Host A Gathering There

A man in his early thirties recently came to Reddit to look for different viewpoints on his situation with his girlfriend.

Things between the two seemed fine until the guy called his girlfriend's taste in home decor bizarre.

He thought his girlfriend's apartment was a reflection of her personality but the decor was not something a normal grownup would find adequate.

The post continued with the description of the girlfriend's apartment rooms. One of the walls was dedicated to animation while another was designed with frames of preserved insects.

The post made it apparent that the boyfriend was not impressed by the tarantulas, beetles, and large insects-inspired wall.

OP thought the decor comprising of 'cartoons, insects, and bizarre ocean creatures' was off putting.

And that is what made him avoid bringing people over to the apartment - especially his office mates.

When it was time for OP to host a gathering for his office colleagues, he could not invite people over to his place because of the ongoing construction there.

On discussing the situation, OP's girlfriend suggested him to arrange the gathering at her place, however, OP shared he planned on skipping the rotation.

Upon discussion with his girlfriend, OP told her the reason for not inviting his work colleagues to her place.

After narrating his story in detail, the 32-year old finally asked the Redditors if he was being an a-hole to his girlfriend.

One of the reasonable responses mentioned how OP should not look down on his girlfriend because of her interests. It shared that it was fine for OP to not like his girlfriend's taste, however, thinking that everyone would be terrified of her apartment was an assumption he made based on one experience only.
