Happy Tears: This Little Girl Gets Adopted on Her Birthday

In a video that has been making the rounds on the internet, we get to see a wonderful glimpse into the lives of this little girl and her stepmother. 

The video opens with the little girl sitting in a chair presumably where she had been opening presents when her stepmother hands her a piece of paper.

She begins reading the paper aloud and can be heard saying, "It is in the best interest of Hailey that this child should be adopted by her stepmother."

She continues to read and we see the realisation dawn on he face that her stepmother has actually adopted her and is now legally her mother.

She drops the paper to her lap and gives a tearful smile to her now mother and starts crying.

As the tears flow on both sides, the little girl jumps and embraces her mother.

The two continue to hold on to one another and keep crying in a wholesome moment

Commenters on the post were touched by the moment and some shared their own stories of how a step-parent stepping up had a positive impact on their life.

"Years ago, when I was maybe 12-13, my mother remarried after a messy divorce. Took a while for the new guy and me to start getting along but on my 15th birthday, he got me a Sega Genesis and new tv. I joked that the only better thing would be if he stuck around forever. Little did I know, he and mom had drawn up adoption papers and gave them to me after that comment.
