Earlier this year, a beloved Harry Potter star shared a heartfelt and honest health update, revealing that she "doesn't have long left to live."

Miriam Margolyes, who played Professor Pomona Sprout in the magical franchise, first appeared in The Chamber of Secrets.

Fans were thrilled when she reprised the role in Deathly Hallows – Part 2, bringing even more joy to Harry Potter enthusiasts.

Beyond her role in Harry Potter, the 83-year-old actress has had a long and successful career, appearing in films like Babe and Flushed Away, and maintaining a strong presence in the theater world as well.

Earlier this year, Margolyes caused quite a stir among fans of the Harry Potter series with her straightforward and bold comments.

Speaking her mind as always, she said, "I worry about Harry Potter fans because they should be over that by now. It was 25 years ago and it's for children – I think it's for children."

In addition to her thoughts on the franchise, Margolyes opened up about her health in an interview with The Telegraph.

She spoke candidly, saying, "When you know that you haven't got long to live – and I'm probably going to die within the next five or six years, if not before, I'm loath to leave behind performing. It's such a joy."

The veteran actress also discussed the challenges of growing older, especially while working in the entertainment industry.

"I want to be able to play parts that aren't just sitting in wheelchairs, but I'm not strong enough," she added.

Margolyes has been dealing with spinal stenosis, a condition that causes numbness and pain. She described it as "limiting and depressing."

Just last week, Harry Potter fans were hit with more devastating news. They learned of the passing of another legendary actress from the series, Dame Maggie Smith.

Smith, best known for her role as the strict yet beloved Professor McGonagall, passed away at the age of 89.

Her sons, Toby Stephens and Chris Larkin, shared the sad news in a joint statement: "It is with great sadness we have to announce the death of Dame Maggie Smith. She passed away peacefully in hospital early this morning, Friday 27th September. An intensely private person, she was with friends and family at the end.
