#1 The rooms have very high ceilings and are enormously huge for a studio.
When moving into a new studio apartment, this tenant didn't expect to stumble into a mind-blowing secret. Although it used to be an old English monastery, dating back to the 19th century, it was renovated. There are approximately 30 apartments inside and this tiny studio was a steal at the cheap price. Or at least, he thought it was tiny.
#2 He started setting up his apartment, placing the essentials where they belonged, and getting things in order.

#3 Because of the very high ceilings his bedroom was actually a loft above the living space which had stairs leading directly into the sleeping space.
#4 The bedroom/loft was huge and made for a cozy area to sleep in. However, one at the top of the stair and in the loft, you were in the bed itself.

#5 The bathroom just off the kitchen was small but the tiling and shower made it very cute.

#6 But wait.. what's this outside the bathroom??

#7 It looks like a trap door in the floor, but does it lead anywhere?

#8 Oh, just some extra storage in the small studio apartment. That's a cool idea, but it wasn't in the lease.

#9 But wait... the storage area slides into the floor.

#10 A staircase. To a secret dungeon? No way!

#11 At first glance it seemed to run under the whole building. Time to get some help from a friend to see what this is all about.

#12 Once an exploring companion was found, it was time to delve into the depths. The hatch led to a 19th century layout of corridors and hatches beneath.
#13 A whole myriad of side rooms, all leading to apartments of the other ground floor tenants. Kind of weird and spooky.

#14 At the end of the corridor, there was more. And, a space above the ceiling where even more hallways and space existed. Who knows how high this corridor was?
#15 At the very end was an entrance to another room with a vaulted ceiling leading to more darkness. A little rubble was in the way but that was easily moved aside.

#16 The room was large, and had graffiti on the walls. Which meant someone had been in the room and beneath his apartment in the not to distant past. What went on down here?
#17 In the corner a stoop.. was it possibly a crypt, or a space for an entertainment center? Was it some sort of sacrificial altar? Who knows, but it sure is creepy.

#18 There was an opening in the middle of the floor with loose dirt in it. It seemed like it had recently been disturbed. Was something recently dug up from that spot? Perhaps a body?
#19 Not feeling so great about the discover for now, he finally arrived back to the stairs leading to the tiny studio apartment.
Secret dungeons, corridors, rooms and doors make any home perfect. Here's hoping he never, ever leaves (or tells the landlord).
It's hard to tell what went on down there over the years, but I know one thing: I'm a little jealous my place doesn't have a trap door OR a secret dungeon.
