He Pours Cement Into Plastic Gloves And Two Days Later He Has This Art
#1 Unique Garden Pots
If you've ever had a garden, we're sure you're used to what the standard flower holder/pots look like in your local gardening store. There are not many decorative styles to choose from, But very unique pots for garden plants are what's in this year, and if you're up to try something new in your backyard, gather the following materials for a spectacular DIT project you'll enjoy all summer long:
Latex gloves
Cement
Water
Trowel
#2 Mixing And Pouring
First. mix up the cement in a large bucket as per the instructions of the bag. Then begin to fill up your latex gloves with the fresh cement, making sure to fold the fingers in the shape you would like them to be permanently. Be sure the gloves are filled as much as possible, especially the fingertips.
#3 Drying & Folding
Your cement will need to dry, and that may take some time, but we recommend that you fold them slightly or cup them so they will be able to hold a planter or pot. One good way is to place them into a bowl, palms up while they harden. This will provide an open hand where you can place your flowers later.
#4 Removing The Gloves
Once the cement hardens, you will have a life like a pair of hands. Gently remove the latex gloves, making sure not to break a finger off! Make sure your hands are completely dry, with no wet crumbles falling off as you remove the gloves. Allow them to dry even longer once the gloves are totally removed. Even with quick drying cement we recommend at least 24 hours.
#5 Cut Grooves For Finger Nails
At last, your DIY project is complete. Although the hands look a little creepy, they'll be an amazing decoration with some plants and soil. Take a scraping blade and gently cut away the areas where the fingernails would be to give your hands a realistic look. Arrange them together in a circular "cupped" design and add a little extra cement to the bottom to connect them together, and wait for that to dry before adding a pot or flowers.
#6 Make Decorative Flower Pot Holders
You can use them in a variety of ways throughout your garden or even on a patio. Simply add soil and the flowers of your choice into the center of your hands for a beautiful pot holder or floral arrangement.
#7 Create Open Palm Arrangements
You are only limited by your imagination with this project. You can use the display as a table centerpiece, as a holder for fresh seeded floral arrangements, or by sculpting grooves into the cement to make them look more realistic, and creating praying hands or garden sculptures. What other things could you use to fill with cement to create a garden basket or decoration?
