COMMUTERS in Madrid became embroiled in tense scenes after a man was rescued from a subway’s train tracks with just seconds to spare.

Gut-wrenching CCTV footage shows how an off-duty policeman jumped from the opposite platform to save the traveller in the nick of time.
Spanish newspaper El Pais reported that the man, 41, was drunk and fell while waiting for his train.

The shocking surveillance video was taken from Puerta del Angel station in the Spanish capital.
At first, everything appears to be well.
But, on the left hand platform, a person can be seen walking backwards towards the edge of the walkway.
#3 An off-duty police officer jumps off the platform to come to the man's aid in the nick of time
Within seconds, the commuter wobbles and slips off the side of the platform, straight into the path of the oncoming train.
Panic ensues on the opposite side of the station.

As the train moves ever closer, the members of the public stick out their arms in a frantic bid to stop the vehicle.
In a daring display, the off-duty policeman jumps off the opposite platform to make his way towards the stranded person.
After helping the person up, the pair move towards the right hand platform

But the train is coming too quickly and the two have to jump and roll over the train tracks to dodge it.
The train steamed straight over the place where the person fell.
They would have surely died had the policeman not stepped in to help.
