Ally Olsen set out to teach her stepdaughter, Kaylee, a lesson in humility, not out of meanness or spite, but to keep Kaylee from inflicting pain on others. Ally learned that Kaylee, who has an interest in fashion at a young age, was taking that interest and making fun of others at school for what they were wearing.

Ally said, "She needed to know how inappropriate she was behaving," so she took her stepdaughter to a thrift store and picked out the clothes she thought were the ugliest in the store and made Kaylee wear them to school for two days.
Over those two days, predictably, Kaylee was teased for what she wore. Fortunately, with that pain came a lesson in empathy. She said, "I [was] like, why would they do that to me. I'm still a normal person. It doesn't matter what you wear."
