Homeless People Each Share One Thing About Themselves That Will Surprise You!

As part of the Rethink Homelessness project, homeless people in Orlando, Florida, USA were asked to write something about themselves onto cardboard and hold it up. The results were moving as you can see.

#2 Forced to give up her 2 children because she could no longer give them the home and care they deserved, she cries every day for her loss and struggles to keep herself alive by living in shelters and taking part time work when available until she gets her life back together.

#3 He doesn't have long to live and his prognosis is not good, but he has not seen a real doctor in 10 months or had any medication or therapy at all because he is alone and living on the street. With no one to advocate for his social welfare, he probably will die on the streets alone.

#4 Once an aspiring athlete, she lost her home and family in a fire, and now lives on the streets because she is unable to find work that will pay enough to live on.

#5 Society was not accepting of this deaf man who could not speak or sign. He never had a job and even after applying for assistance, ended up losing control of his stability and becoming homeless.

#6 They fled the family home to escape the daily violence that plagues so many families behind closed doors... but now they live on the street amongst the homeless and poor.

#8 This man was an engineer for 18 years at a major company before losing his job due to the bad economy.

#9 No health care coverage and the rising costs associated with his illness, he became homeless and lives on the streets.

#10 The cost of a major surgery is a financial devastation for this man who lost his family, job, and home after becoming hospitalized with no income.

#11 He lives on the streets and has every right to be angry and depressed, but even with no money to pay for his medications, he keeps an upbeat attitude.
