The internet literally opened up the world. Knowledge from across the globe could be shared in an instant. Lines of communication between people who’ve never had access to each other opened up. People without voices all of a sudden had an open forum to express themselves. The internet’s made people famous. We were able to share music. Our fears. Find like minds, open up the views and thoughts of others.
It shaped the way we shopped, consumed media, shared data, and shifted the global economy in a way that’s never been seen before. I could go on and on about how amazing the internet is and talk about what it was like living without it back in the day, but you get the point: the internet’s a really big freaking deal.
Not just because of all the profound change it’s brought in our daily lives, but because now, more than ever before, have an outlet for utterly embarrassing the hell out of themselves. Like these poor unfortunate souls.
