Police were been unable to deny claims that several deceased bodies were discovered within the set of used luggage that had been retrieved from an Auckland storage facility.
Horrified Family Finds Human Remains In Suitcases They Bought At Online Auction
After human remains were discovered inside a set of suitcases purchased online, a thorough investigation was launched, and it is undisputed that numerous bodies were involved in the horrific discovery.
The horrifying finding was discovered by a family who had purchased the used luggage at auction as part of a storage unit clean-out, but a neighbor has questioned why no one had before detected the stench.
The alarm was raised last Thursday in the New Zealand district of South Auckland, and police opened a murder investigation right away, according to the Mirror.
When the family started emptying a trailer with the stuff they had purchased in the auction, which had been organized to get rid of useless stuff from the warehouse, they were alarmed.
The Manurewa residence was the subject of a police cordon. Although the site is still closed off, the officers left at the start of this week.
According to reports, police have not disputed the claim that the luggage contained numerous dead.
The New Zealand Herald was informed by a neighbor that the smell was obvious.
“They brought it back on a trailer. How did they not pick up the smell?” the neighbor asked.
“I’m a pig hunter and when a carcass goes bad it’s the same smell. That’s why I thought it was a dead animal.”
Tofilau Faamanuia Vaaelua, a detective on the case, confirmed that the “occupants of the address are not believed to be involved in the incident”.
He added: “We appreciate there is a significant public interest in what has occurred.”
“However, given the nature of the discovery, there are still several inquiries to be carried out.”
“The priority for police is to confirm the identification of the deceased so that we can establish the full circumstances behind the discovery.”
While investigations into what might be a serious crime are being conducted, the residents of the property have fled their house.
While a local said a man in his 30s and an "old man" lived there, a neighbor told the Herald he was looking after the property in the meantime.
