Artificial intelligence has generated a version of what it thinks the famous painting would look like if it was created today.

And yes, she does kind of look like she'd love to post selfies to Instagram.

In AI's version of the Mona Lisa, she has clear skin, wide green eyes, a perfect nose and quite frankly, a lot of... cleavage.

The AI-generated image of the Mona Lisa emerged on Twitter, shared under the handle @DailyLoud. This digital creation has ignited a mix of lighthearted jests, clever puns, and even deeper reflections on art, beauty, and modern sensibilities.

Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, created between 1503 and 1506, has secured an enduring position in art history, captivating global art enthusiasts. This enigmatic portrayal of a woman, often identified as Lisa Gherardini, has held viewers spellbound with her elusive smile and enigmatic gaze.

Moving into the digital era, AI technology has the ability to offer fresh perspectives on timeless artworks. The AI-generated Mona Lisa presents a modern twist on the age-old masterpiece, reimagining the iconic subject with a touch of the present-day zeitgeist.

Social media users wasted no time in expressing their opinions with humor and playful banter.

Some of the comments offered amusing interpretations, with one user jesting "Mona Lisa if she was an Instagram influencer."

Another added: “Mona Lisa looks like she has an OnlyFans. Me after typing in 'hot Mona Lisa with MASSIVE HONKERS'

While others questioned AI's, uh, intelligence.

"AI be putting boobs on pictures and you guys act like it’s like the most amazing thing ever," one person commented.

"Well, it's pretty obvious who invented AI! I no longer feel that threatened by the 'intelligence' part. And authentic is always more fun than artificial."

One user remarked, “This Mona Lisa is actually attractive,” inviting reflection on how perceptions of beauty may vary across artistic interpretations and through the lens of time.

Opinions about the AI-generated Mona Lisa may differ vastly. As one user expressed, “OG Mona Lisa is big mid,” acknowledging the subjective nature of art appreciation and how every interpretation can evoke unique emotions and responses in viewers.

This isn't the first time AI has been a little creative with the Mona Lisa.

Earlier this year, an image of what the landscape outside of the iconic painting's frame would look like went viral.

At the time, most people agreed that the image was more of a demonstration of the limitations of AI than of its brilliance.

"The core problem with the current AI pitch is the assumption that we should always need or want more, when choosing exactly what we mean to say and show is central to both art and communication. What lies beyond the frame was not chosen; that was the point," tweeted @disco_jill.

While Twitter user @PlanetofFinks pointed out that 'this is actually a great demonstration of what AI can do. In that it doesn't know to give her legs and adds a second horizon above the horizon because it isn't an intelligence and doesn't know anything'.

While the original masterpiece holds an unparalleled place in art history, AI artistry adds a new layer of creativity and opens doors to exploration and interpretation.
