How You SHOULD Act Around an Ex vs How You ACTUALLY Act

Breakups can be rough, but the best thing to do after being kicked to the curb is to act like you don’t even care. Go out, look fabulous, and show that idiot what they’re missing. This attitude, though, while good in theory, is extremely difficult to execute. We’re much more likely to get on our knees with puffy, crying eyes begging to be given a second chance. *cringe* Here are some situations where the way you should act around your ex is different than the way you actually act:

#1 How you should act at a party

You're having so much fun that you hardly even notice your ex is there. You're super casual when you see them and give a genuine, "Hey, how are you?" PERFECTION.

#2 How you actually act

You're going to be super awkward the second you realize you're under the same roof. Your ex will catch you and your posse staring and whispering. In a moment of weakness, you'll go right up to your former flame and accidentally blurt out your feelings (alcohol is not your friend in this situation). "Don't you miss me, though? Why wasn't I good enough? Whyyyyyy?" Not good, my friend. Not good.

#3 How you should act randomly in public

You're dressed amazingly of course, and you're in better shape than you've been in years. You are working it, and people are doing double-takes like whhaaaaaaaaat. Your ex looks on, and you give them a little wave. Nice.

#4 how you actually act

Hide. HIDE! You're in your pajamas, you look awful ... no, no, no! This is not happening right now. Aaaaaand, they saw you.

#5 How you should act on the internet

Hide their Facebook feed, unfollow on Instagram and Twitter, and remove any photos from your immediate viewing area. It's not extreme, you're just doing what you need to do in order to move on. The less you know about their single escapades the better.
