Inheritance can be a bit of a tricky topic, but imagine if your kid started getting upset with you for spending your own cash?

That’s the story one person shared with the Mail Online.

They opened up about how they’ve started to feel annoyed with their parents for using their retirement funds on themselves instead of helping out their kids.

This person detailed how their folks are really enjoying their golden years, jetting off to amazing destinations like Thailand, New York, and Costa Rica.

At 34 years old, the writer shared that they’re finding themselves feeling more and more annoyed every time their parents pack their bags for another adventure.

They confessed: "It is not a pleasant thing to admit, but the fact is their dream holidays are draining my inheritance."

The article then dives into the bigger picture.

It mentions the ongoing cost of living crisis and how the financial gap between generations seems to be getting bigger and bigger.

The writer pondered over the fairness in their family’s situation, asking:

"Who is being selfish? Us for wanting them to save their money so we can one day have it? Or them, for splurging it all so freely on themselves?"

They noted that their parents had promised to leave whatever savings they have left to their two children.

But with all the traveling, it seems like those savings could be dwindling.

"At 34, I am still renting and living hand-to-mouth," the writer said.

They pointed out that even buying a home wouldn’t really fix their financial woes, as they’d still be stuck in debt without any help.

They questioned their future, especially regarding starting a family:

"Do they want to go on holiday more than they want me to be able to have and bring up children?"

The piece wrapped up by mentioning a statistic from Moneyfarm, stating that around 70 percent of millennials are counting on an inheritance.

Yet, it appears not all parents are in a spending spree.

About 60 percent are being careful with their finances, aiming to leave something behind.

And 80 percent are planning to leave everything to their children.
