There are plenty of films that affected us personally from back in the day, and we have come up with a list. There are tons of inspiring and entertaining movies from over the years, but just in case you missed some, check out our list. Our list of classic movies are not so old that they are in black and white, but they are movies we strongly believe everyone should watch at least once in their lives. And if you have already seen these movies, it just might be time to watch them again.
If You Haven't Seen These "Old Movies," You Definitely Should
#1 Beaches (1988)
This late 80s comedic drama covers all of the bases of a lifelong friendship between women, love (including loving the same man), and a young woman pursuing her career in entertainment. It sounds heart-wrenching, and it is, but only in the best way.
#2 Sixteen Candles (1984)
A story about a teen who wakes up on her 16th birthday only to find out it has been completely overshadowed by her sisters upcoming nuptials. It is a mix of hilarious scenes, teen angst, and a crush on the popular high school senior who she is sure is out of her league.
#3 The Breakfast Club (1985)
Unless you have been living under a rock, you have seen this movie, and if you have not seen it, you need to. This is by far one of the best movies to come out in the 80s.
#4 The Great Gatsby (1974)
Robert Redford did give Leo DiCaprio a run for his money when it comes down to their roles in The Great Gatsby from 1974 and it's remake in 2013. If you have not seen this classic, we suggest that you do and read the book while you are at it.
#5 The Godfather (1972)
You should really be ashamed of yourself if you have not seen The Godfather. This trilogy that takes us through an up close look at the Italian-American mafia is a must see....like right now.
#6 Back to the Future (1985)
Even if you never saw Back to the Future, you have heard of the time travelling DeLorean that takes Marty McFly back to the 50s and eventually in to the future where we are now living... mind blown!
#7 The Goonies (1985)
Nothing gets better than The Goonies. The ragtag group of friends head off on a dangerous adventure to find the hidden treasure left behind by pirate One-Eyed Willy in order to save one of the group's home from being foreclosed on by the bank.
#8 Pretty in Pink (1985)
Another Molly Ringwald film that should be watched for the outrageous 80s fashion alone.
#9 Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off features a young Matthew Broderick as the uncannily smooth and surprisingly inspirational truant Ferris Bueller, for whom countless adventures unfold when he and his friends skip school, usurp a parade float, and more.
#10 Stand By Me (1986)
This classic is bound to tug at your heart strings. A true coming of age movie about a group of friends who go on a hunt for a dead body of a missing boy.
#11 Dirty Dancing (1987)
If you have never seen this movie, you still know one of its famous quotes, "Nobody puts Baby in the corner."
#12 Big (1988)
This heartwarming movie is what made Tom Hanks in to the well sought after actor that he is today. It is a story about a young boy making a wish on an old fortune telling machine that he could just be big, and his wish came true.
#13 When Harry Met Sally (1989)
If you are not familiar with this iconic fake orgasm scene in the diner, you have been living under a rock, and we suggest you get out and see this movie asap.
#14 Heathers (1989)
A young Winona Ryder...need we say more?
#15 Say Anything (1989)
If you have not seen this movie, then you need to even if it is just to see the iconic John Cusack boombox scene.
#16 Dead Poets Society (1989)
Three words... Best. Movie. Ever.
#17 Mermaids (1990)
This is a great mother daughter film featuring Cher, a young Winona Ryder, and a very young Christina Ricci.
#18 Pretty Woman (1990)
Julia Roberts is truly a star in this modern day Cinderella type story line and her prince charming is no one other than Richard Gere. It is a must see movie that you are sure to love.
#19 Ghost (1990)
If you have ever lost a loved one, grab the tissues before watching this one. This amazing movie is definitely a huge tear jerker.
#20 Dances With Wolves (1990)
This Western movie is about a Civil War soldier who falls in love with living the Native American life.
#21 Thelma & Louise (1991)
Two best friends take a road trip, meet a sexy young Brad Pitt, and become wanted by the law...a epic classic that everyone should go see.
#22 The Sandlot (1993)
Even if you do not like baseball, you will love this classic movie.
#23 Forrest Gump (1994)
This is probably the most quoted movie in history of all movies, and if you have not seen it, you must be from another planet.
#24 Legends of the Fall (1994)
Here is another one that you will need your tissues handy...don't worry you get to drool over Brad Pitt about the same amount that this flick will have you crying.
#25 Interview With the Vampire (1994)
This star studded cast, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, and Kirsten Dunst, bring you probably the best and most realistic vampire film, ever.
#26 Before Sunrise (1995)
This trilogy is definitely one for the lovers and believers of love at first site.
#27 The Devil's Advocate (1997)
Keanu Reeves = advocate
Al Pacino = Devil
