If You See One Of These Inside Your House, You May Have A HUGE Problem On Your Hands.
#1
Red triangle slugs are largest native land slug of Australia. They are normally found in eastern parts of Australia.
#2
Their name is derived from the red triangular markings around its breathing hole, also called the pneumostome. Not all slugs are air-breathers, but this guy is.
#3
These slugs can grow to be up 15 cm long (Whao!). They are very variable in color. Individual slugs can be white, off-white, yellow, dark or light grey, beige, pink, red, or olive green. Each of the color forms have a red (possibly orange, magenta, or maroon) triangle on the mantle surrounding the pneumostome, and a red line at the edge of the foot. The texture of the dorsum of the slug can be smooth or very rough.
#4
Research is currently being carried out in an attempt to determine if some of the different coloration may actually represent different species or subspecies.
#5
Most slugs have four tentacles at the front of their head, but the red triangle slug has just two, giving it a singularly weird appearance.
#6
While many species of slug like to eat the tender leaves in your garden, these guys prefer algae and mold. Sometimes the slugs enter houses and have been known to graze on the mold that grows on bathroom walls. This preference can actually be a boon to homeowners.
#7
A sudden abundance of these odd slugs could mean that you have a real serious mold problem. Some people even suggest using the slugs as a way to naturally and safely get rid of bathroom mold without dangerous chemicals.
#8 Just check out the beauty of this creature.
#9
Red triangle slugs are found in damp situations in various habitats, including city gardens, forests, woodland and heaths.
#10
This guy just found one.

Hey little kid. You like him? Of course you do.
