This 24-year old Indian born girl, Pooja Gantra with her fair skin, red hair, green eyes and freckles could be easily mistaken for an Irish. Upon the birth of their daughter, Gantra's parents were shocked to see their daughter and believed their daughter looked different probably due to some medical condition. As her father has dark skin with typical Indian looks and her mother though with a fair skin but also having typical Indian features.

She also states that at the age of three, when her freckles started appearing her family got worried, not knowing what they were and she was rushed to the hospital believing that she has got some skin problem. Being different also created difficulty in Gantra's life, as according to her because of her different looks she was routinely bullied in her childhood.

She said, “When I get into taxis cab drivers start speaking to me in English and are shocked when I answer them in Hindi. The funniest one is when I’m charged the foreigner price for public attractions because they think I’m a backpacker, so I have to prove I’m Indian.”

According to Gantra, who runs her own clothes manufacturing business, whenever she travels to Europe or America, people refuse to believe she is Indian. But being there made her realise that she is normal and there are other people who look like her.

According to her, she wants to get the DNA test done to know more about her ancestry and the probable reason behind her different looks. She said "I have no idea why I look the way that I do but a test into my genes could explain a lot. My grandmother died when my mum was very young, so I was never able to ask her about it but I’m very curious."

Gantra says, growing up and being an adult she has learned to accept it and has learned to be happy in her own skin. She believes in natural beauty and this has made her accept herself for who she is. She says, "Natural beauty is the most gorgeous thing a woman can wear. It took a while to learn how to love myself but now that I do, I always dress my best and bring out my biggest smile for anyone who stares at me. I don’t care anymore if people stare at me or judge me because of how I look. I’m too busy loving myself to notice."
